    3. Richard King and his family moved from the New Brunswick area of NJ to Rowan County. Iradell was the nearby county. See below: The study of the genealogy of the King Family may best be begun by the perusal of the following letter, written to James King Hand by Joseph Daniels: THE NEWS AND OBSERVER, Raleigh, N.C. North Carolina's foremost newspaper in character and circulation. Mr. J. K. Hand, Stratton Bliss Co., 23 East 64th St, NYC. Dear Mr. Hand: Upon my return to the city, I find your letter and I am glad you wrote Mr. Clark. I knew he would be able to give you the best information of anybody in the State. With warm regards, Josephus Daniels, Sect.-Treas. & Bus. Mgr. The attached papers regarding the King Family of North Carolina and elsewhere, received from Mr. R. R. Clark, Statesville, Iredell County, N.C. to whom Mr. Daniels had written upon request of the writer for information concerning the family, etc...........James King Hand October 26, 1923, the date received from Mr. Clark was as follows: A FAMILY RECORD OF THE KINGS, COMMENCED IN 1821 BY THE REVEREND RICHARD HUGG KING After the birth of these children in 1756, the family moved to Rowan County, next to Iredell County, North Carolina and settled at Third Creek, but later removed to a farm adjoining that of Dr. McCorkle of Withrows Creek. Their children were: Margaret King Lansden, child of his first wife Children of Margaret Barclay: Thomas, to whom he left left his lands, a grandson Richard Blythe, Sons Robert, James Andrew and John, daughters Ann, Elizabeth, Margaret and Mary (all noted in his will). His grandson was the son of Richard who was killed by Cherokee Indians in their last raid in that area. Sue
