George WADE KING (b. 1839 NC)(d.1923 MS) said he was born in NC, raised along the Great PeeDee River (Anson Co., NC ?) and went to Lauderdale Co., MS with the Hobgood family before 1862. He said he was married and had 2 children before the War but when he came home, they were gone. Dead? Deserted? I believe he was the George W. King who married Lurena Birks/Burks in Lawrence Co., AL in 1861. By 1862 he was in Lauderdale Co., MS where he joined the Confederate Army. His death certificate says his father was George KING, born in NC. George Wade KING remarried to Ann RAINEY MILLER in 1869 in Lauderdale Co., MS and their children were: Charley May KING, John L. KING, Geneva KING, James Ely KING, Johnny Miller KING, Lorena Ouida KING, Joseph Valvirtie KING, Davie E. KING, George Rainey KING, and Walter J. KING. Glad to compare notes on this line!
