Have you done y-dna on your family? I spent 20 years researching the wrong set of Kings, trying to find how my branch connected to the other in same time and place as mine? There are at least 4 groups of "King" family that was in Clark and Estill KY before 1850 JEREMIAH KING b~1770 (proved by y-dna not to be connected to mine) Jacob King b: in VA ~1750 Robert Stephen King born 1787 Jesse King born ~1760 And mine.............................. ??? "STEVE" (can't prove or disprove, he was suppose to have married Mary Lilly) WILLIAM SANFORD 1833 KY m SARAH BRADLEY SAMUEL FRANCIS 1856 KY CLARKE m PEARL W OWEN ROY FRANCIS SR 1910 KY CLARKE m ALLENE R BROWNING ROY FRANCIS JR. m JOANNE M ROOF KELLY K m DAVID O PARKS +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This all started when I got the death certificate for William S King . It says he was born in Estill Co. and parents were Steve King and Mary Lilly. I thought up to this time his father might be Robert Stephen King. I haven't found any Steve or Stephen married to any Lilly. I haven't found Steve or William S in the 1850 census. W.S. King death certificate. b JAN 1832 (as was my William S in 1900 Census). Info giver was a Sam F. King. (My Wm. S had a son Samuel Francis King). THIS "W.S. KING" WAS BURIED IN THE ADAMS GRAVEYARD. My Wm.'s mother-in-law was a Adams. My Wm.'s wife died before him, more than likely he was buried besides his wife. THIS IS WHERE MY PROBLEM BEGINS. "W.S.KING" father was given as Steve King . WAS THIS ROBERT STEPHEN KING? W.S. King's mother was given as Mary Lilly. . . What happen to his father? Where did he go? Did he remarry? William Sanford King is not listed in the 1850 census of Clark and Estill. Wm is age 17/18, Wm Marries In 1855 Clark Co I have now identified all the Stephen that married and are found in the census of Clark and Estill. None of them could be the father of William S King. I do think that Stephen "Francis" King born ~1827, who married Elizabeth Potts is a brother. I wonder about the John King who married Lucy Lilly in 1827, who is thought to belong to Jeremiah King family. I not sure if Robert S King is related to those Kings found in Estill. R.S. King was from Clark Co. before his marriage to Sarah Crutchfield in 1845. Where did he come from? Bourbon Co. I think. (A later record I found says that my William S King and his son Samuel F King were of Bourbon Co. Those early Kings in Clark Co. (pre 1830) are the same ones that are found in Estill after it was formed. I find many links between Clark , Estill, Bourbon. I believe its possible for most of these Kings to BE RELATED. More work is need in the surrounding counties to know this for sure! Y_DNA would be a big help in sorting them out. -- Kelly Parks, 2112 Hawkins RD, Pattison, MS 39144 GARDEN WEB link <http://www.gardenweb.com/members/kellyp> Web page: >http://www.geocities.com/kellyparks99/<
