Buried at New Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Sullivan County, Tennessee. Soldier; Pioneer. Came to the Holston County about 1780. 1799 owned an Inn at Southwest Point (now Kingston, Roane County). Commissioner of the town of Rogersville; 1788 delegate to Convention to ratify U.S. Constitution; 1788, 1789 member of N.C. House of Commons from Hawkins County. Presbyterian; New Bethel Church in Sullivan County. Volunteered at the beginning of the Revolution and was with Washington in New Jersey and at Valley Forge. Later with the Pennsylvania Regulars in the Western Division; Fought with General Nathaniel Greene and General Francis Marion in South Carolina; after 8 years, was mustered out in 1783. In 1790 was made a Colonel in the Washington District Militia. Father - Edward King Sr., lived at Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, died c1790 in Sullivan County, Tennessee. Came to the Holston Country about 1775 to spend his last days with his children who had come before him. Mother - Elizabeth (Nickolds), married 1751, died c1808. Spouse - Susan (Sharp), born 3-21-1756, died 4-3-1822 in Sullivan County, Tennessee. Sister of the pioneer, John Sharp. Children- 1. Harvey King, b. 1784, m. Jane Gregg 2. Julia King, b. 1786, m.
