Anyone who can confirm this, or reconfirm, or deny this oral tradition which came from off the Internet? Ken >> The BOLLING family were co-mingled with the descendants of Matoaca (a.k.a., Pocahontas), youngest daughter of Chief Powhatan. It's not a legend. I'm not going into the complex issues of the early Rolfe and Bolling lines, but can give you some idea of descendency by saying that there were "White Bollings" and "Red Bollings" in Virginia. A short-cut way of saying that the descendants of Pocahontas among Bollings were called, "The Red Bollings." JOHN ROLFE m. Matoaca (KG: "Pocahontas" was her nickname) / THOMAS ROLFE m. JANE POYERS (sp. several ways) / JANE ROLFE m. COL. ROBERT BOLLING, 1675 / "The Red Bollings" line. Cf.
