    1. [KING-L] Another lost NC William King
    2. King, John R
    3. Good-day cousins, I find the multiplicity of William Kings fascinating, and frustrating. Every generation of my clan has at least one. To start with my William (Henry?) King (1)he is reputed to come from NC, he was married to one Tamar Wallace, daughter of Luke Wallace and Hannah Oldacres Wallace. William and Tamar settled in Mason County, Wva, on the Ohio River in 1819. There they had 5 children, Louisa, Sarah, Winston Banner, Preston, and William Henry. There are several families that were closely aligned with our Kings, and on adjoining farms. Wallace, Wallis, Woods, Lockhart, Withers, Lanier, Oldacres, Day/Deigh, and Sanders/Saunders. All of these families inter-married, and some of the Kings, Wallis's, and Withers went on together to the opening of the Oklahoma teritory, and into Texas. Many of these associated lines can still be found in Mason County But my brick wall is William(1), family tradition says that he came from North Carolina, but I have as yet not been able to find his tracks. I believe that he and Tamar were married before first settling on the Kanawha, at Red House in 1815. Tamar's, Oldacre line was amongst the first settlers of what became Charleston, West Virginia. William was supposed to have fought in the War of 1812. I hope that some of these names may be familier to some of You. We have at least 3 William Henrys that I have found so far amongst my other Williams. William (1), Winston Banner (2), David Samuel (3), David Augusta (4), William Earl (5), John Richard Regards John Richard King johnking@pasdex.com.au
