I have recently found a web site that may provide some very interesting documents and information for some of you. Our government has provided us with a truly useful web site, http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/. For some eastern states, you can search the land patent records and print or save a copy of a scanned copy of the original land patent document. I have found certificates for 13 parcels of land originally owned by my direct ancestors in AL. These certificates are signed by a secretary for Andrew Jackson, Martin Van Buren, John Quincy Adams, Chester A. Arthur, Millard Fillmore, and James K. Polk, complete with all the "Whereas"es and "Now Know Ye"s of official certificates. These were not typed or printed on a computer but are the real thing. You can also get certified copies of these certificates.
