    1. [KING-L] KING in Madison Co., AL
    2. Dear Earnie and the List, Now you are getting real close to MY territory! I have been searching for several years for the father of my great, great grandfather, John Rooney KING. He was born in Jackson Co., AL (right next door to Madison Co.). His DOB was 22-NOV-1839 and died 08-SEP-1870 and is buried in the Langston Cemetery in Jackson Co., AL. I knew from census records that his mother's name was Elizabeth and with the help of my cousin, Neta Wood, we have just confirmed her maiden name was DABNEY. I have just found a marriage record for an Elijah KING to an Elizabeth Dabny/Dalony? who were married 14-JAN-1831 in Madison Co., AL. This info was found at the Clayton Library in Houston, TX on 27-JUL-1998 in a book called Early Alabama Marriages published by Family Adventures, P. O. Box 290354, San Antonio, TX 78280. >From this book I copied all the male KINGs, but I am sorry to say not the females. John R. KING named his first son Lester Elijah KING so I feel we are on the right track! If anyone can confirm descendants of this Elijah and Elizabeth KING, I would greatly appreciate it. If you might be a descendant of any of the above, that would be even better. I have more info to share on John Rooney KING and his mother and siblings. BTW, Elizabeth had a brother named James Dabney. He married a Sara (Sarah?), maiden name unknown. Earnie, I will look for your Clarissa as I look for Elijah. Sincerely, La Vera (Brasuell) Caruthers rjllc@juno.com Tomorrow, today will be yesterday.
