I have been trying to pin down the county in NC my KING line lived in just prior to moving to Lincoln Co. TN around 1815. I have noted that some of their neighbors were from Orange Co. NC. I have also found there were two Ephraim KING's in NC during the War of 1812; one in Onslow Co. NC (near Wilmington) and the other in Hereford Co. NC; but I can't document either as a connection to my KING line; however, I think they were most likely cousins. One of my KING aunts said that the KING's migrated from VA to NC near Wilmington, NC and later they moved westward to Lincolnton Co., NC. Before moving on to TN in 1815. I have checked in both locations in NC and found nothing to document their passage thru those two areas. The Ephraim King in Onslow Co. was a witness to a land sale shortly after the end of the 1812 War. Another KING researcher claims that later he made a land claim in south AL, based on his 1812 War service (I think in Coffee Co.). Oral family history states that my gr-gr grandfather Ephraim KING married his wife in SC and that they were attracted to Lincoln Co. TN by one of his wife's sisters who married a man named ARMSTRONG. However, again I have been unable to document their marriage in SC and a possible connection to the ARMSTRONG clan of Lincoln Co. TN. Only a marriage between the KING's and ARMSTRONG's a couple of generations later following their migration to TN. I note that you have a ROBINSON in your family line. The mother of my grandmother Alina CHAPMAN KING was named Ann E. Robinson, b. abt. 1819. Possibly related to your line? The HARDEN in my line was intermarried with my gr-gr-gr grandfather William CLOUD line in VA, quite possibly prior to the Rev. War. William and wife Alice settled in Fairfield Co. SC, again quite possibly prior to the Rev. War. I have a lot of data on my CLOUD line, but not too much on my HARDEN line, which I think originated in France. Thanks again for your response.
