While trying to sort out my Athens Co, Oh Kings, I had to puzzle through a PA bunch who have similar names. There is a Joshua King, Jr. - PA who married a Sarah in Athens Co. in 1838. He moved to Morgan Co. which is near Vinton & Athens where my Joshua and Susan lived. The Pa Joshua, Jr. was born according to my notes in 1838, Sarah in 1819. I have four deeds from or about Joshua King, Sr. There is a Joshua Sr., late of Little Brittain twp., Lanc Co. Pa., who left property in Athens Co., Ohio. His exec. were Joseph Ballance Jr. and Amos King. It is my opinion that he was married to Agnes King since she signed the deed of sale to a (W?) White in 1839. It is possible the Elizabeth below was the wife, but she is mentioned with sisters Mary, Miriam and Deborah. Joshua states "daughters". Another deed - Benjamin Joy of Boston to James King, Jr., of Martick twp Lanc. Co., Pa, 1824, land in the Ohio Company Purchase, state of Ohio - signed & delivered by Benjamin (Peterson?) of Marietta, Ohio. This was witnessed by Joshua and Eliz. King, Lanc Co. Robert King Jr. was the Justice of the Peace - notary. it is this early date that is confusing since Eliz signed with Joshua Sr. as witness here. She could be an older daughter, or perhaps an Eliz the wife of James. In 1839, Joshua's estate deeded land to Mary King, Deborah King, Eliz. King, Miriam King (Josheph Thomas guardian of Miriam) of East Nottingham (Pa) - the purchase of Joshua recorded at Athens in the State of Ohio in 1825.(From a Clark family in Boston). Joseph Ballance Jr., & Amos King, exec. "Signed and sealed in the presence of us, John Webster, Agness King. 1839 Ballance & Amos K. exec. deeded land in Athens co. to Thos. King. of Athens Co.(son of said Josua King) (for the consideration of two hundred and fifty dollars). Signed by John Webster, J. Ballance and Amos King. There are several James Kings in the Athens census who claim Pa births. My James married to first Jane, then Theresa, lived in Canaan twp and claimed Va. Since Robert King disappears from the Athens census after 1830, I am not sure that he is not the Pa Robert King, Jr. I do not believe so since he lived next door to Laurence King who I believe is his father. He is of the right age. For what it's worth - Pat Snyder
