La Vera; Many thanks to a previously unknown cousin, Ken Slaten, I now have a very good history of My King Alabama ancestors. My 3rd Great Grandfather was Joseph Griffin who was born in SC about 1765-1767. He married 1. Mary Ann and had 5 children, Lucinda who married a Martindale, Thacker W., John W. who married Sarah ?, Lorenzo D. who resided in Dallas Co. near Selma and Mary Hester A. who married John Higginbotham 1/31/1850 in Madison Co. Mary Ann died abt. 1818. On March 20, 1820 he married Charity Davis who was 30 years his junior, and from NC. They had 4 children, Joseph Casin, b. 12/9/ 1820 and m. Katherine True, Samuel J. b 1830, William b 1834 and Sarah Jane "Jenny" my gg grandmother b 2/1836 and married Ruben Webster. I have been told that one of Jenny's brothers was killed in the "War of Northern Aggression." I do not know if it was a brother or a half brother.
