I'd greatly appreciate ANY help! Regards, Karen Trouvat KTrouvat@aol.com My ancestor, Tranqilla KING, was the daughter of Mazie HAWS (Hawes) and Amazon KING living in Tennessee. Mazie's sister, Eveline S. HAWS, married Henry A. GARVIN (living TN - AL) and had many children, few of whom survived to maturity (have info.). Tranquilla and her younger sister Evalina, were living with Eveline S. and Henry Garvin at the 1850 Census of Marshall Co AL. As far as I know both of these HAWS girls were married in TN and were born in NC >> Hello Karen, Your posting caught my eye when I saw the name Amazon attached to the King name. My King family of Orange County, now Alamance County, NC had the name of Amza or Amazie in the third or so generation of the family in the county. My research revealed that this was a nickname that stemmed from the name Armour. (Don't ask me how they got that!!!) I am wondering if the name Amazon may have had the same origin, especially in light of the fact that the King family is also involved. Best regards, John Fox Winston-Salem, NC
