Okay, Carol - here's my King problem. My gggrandfather, James Madison Cloud, married Margaret Drummond King in Murray Co, GA in 1838. She was born in VA according to some censuses and in TN according to other censuses, but we have been unable to locate her ancestors. We are hoping her mother was a Drummond (see following paragraph), but have no evidence to confirm that. They later lived in Murray Co. GA, and in McMinn and Polk Counties, TN, and Margaret (Peggy) and the children ended up in Scott Co, MS, after James died. Do you see a connection with your line? A Daniel Drummond died in 1841 in Murray Co. GA. A John King died in Habersham Co, GA, in 1835, showing a wife, Nancy, and a daughter, Margaret, among his heirs. As Habersham is close to Murray, and as both are in far north GA just below McMinn and Polk Counties, TN, I am hopeful that Nancy's maiden name was Drummond and that her daughter Margaret was my Margaret Drummond King. Thus, if Daniel was Nancy's brother, Margaret could have gone to Murray Co. to live with him after John King died, and thus have been available for James Madison Cloud to marry her there.
