John and William had removed to Georgia by 1820 and are enumerated in the federal census of Hall County. John king sold land on the North Fork of Oconee River to Margaret Price, October 6, 1800. This land was originally granted to Joseph McCutchin February 13, 1789. John and Robert were taxed in the Mulberry Fork vicinity in 1803-1805. Family records state that traditions of the King Family say they are of English descent and came to South Carolina in the earliest days of the colony. The family settled in the old Pendleton District, and brought with them wealth and affluence. The Kings originally belonged to the Established Church of England, but in America they soon joined the Methodist group. Robert King married a Miss Smith and they became parents of seven children: Robert (Jr), William, Jack, Betsy, Sallie, Rebecca, and Catherine. William King married Jerusha Harris in Anderson County, S. C. in 1808 and moved to Jackson County, Ga. He lived on Mulberry Fork of Oconee River until about 1825, when he moved to Gwinnett County. He became an early leader in the establishment of the Methodist Church. He and his wife became parents of six sons and four daughters. William King died in 1852. Jack King married Henrietta Brown, Betsy married a Mr. Harris. Sallie married Dennis Stell. Rebecca King married Stephen Tilly, and Catherine, her sister, married Hope Watts. Robert King, Jr., son of Robert King Sr., married Frances Tilly, March 25th 1805. Frances was the daughter of Stephen Tilly of Pendleton District, S. C. The Tilly family was of German descent. Robert and Frances King immigrated to Georgia and settled near the junction of the Chattahoochee and Chestatee Rivers, which was then the eastern borders of Cherokee Indian Nation. It is said that their life was one of continual excitements and adventure. They were exposed to Indians and wild animals, lived in a log cabin and they were compelled to be prepared for all emergencies. The King Family members were noted for their fondness for music; indeed, the charms of music overshadowed many an obstacle in those primal times. They were famous for their good voices and excelling most of their neighbors, they would meet socially among their friends and sing the songs of Watts and Wesley to their heart's content. Especially at the camp meetings and when the great revivals swept over the land would their voices be heard in praise of their Maker, and the Methodist Church flourished in that age. Robert and Frances King were parents of eight children: Nancy King, born March 23, 1803. Her marriage is recorded in "Book A Marriages, Hall County." John Chambers and Nancy were married Dec. 13, 1828, Thomas Jackson, J. P. (Cert 437). John and Nancy Chambers were parents of four children. Mary King, born November 3, 1804. Mary married a Mr. Bishop and they became parents of five children. Rebecca King, born November 21, 1806. Rebecca married Ephraim M. Johnson and they were parents of seven children. Jane King, born July 23, 1808, married a Mr. Brick. James R. King, born November 27, 1811, married Miss Conley. Lucinda King, born April 13, 1814, married Obed Smith. Robert A. King, born July 15th, 1817, married Miss Mary E Gober. Ebenezer King, born July 25, 1819, married a sister of Obed Smith. --part0_905894777_boundary--
