I recently received a copy of the will of one James King, filed August 1827 in Hamilton County, Ohio. This James King *may* be my fourth-great grandfather. The information I have about him, received from another researcher, is that he was born in Ireland, married a Mary Smith, and had at least one child, James M. King, born in 1809 in Butler County, Ohio, and married in 1830 in Glendale, Hamilton County, Ohio. I requested this will from the University of Cincinnati Library and thought I would share it on this list. It is very hard to read. I still don't know if this is my James King, but hopefully other researchers will recognize some of the other names: I, JAMES KING, being weak in body though sound in memory and mind and knowing the uncertainty of life, do think proper to make this my last will and testament in the manner following, to wit: First, I will and bequeath all my household and kitchen furniture with the stock and grane (sic) to my wife, ANN KING, during her natural life and at her decease I direct the residue to be equally divided between my sons JAMES and JESSY KING and further I direct my Executors to pay to each of my children that are now living the sum of one hundred ______ and the same sum to be divided equally amongst the heirs of the deceased ANN TORCH(?), RUTHY GRAY, ELIZABETH DAVI(S)?, SARAH WOOD, THOMAS D. KING, MARY DAILEY, DELILA FLORENCE, CATHERIN WOOD, and SUSAN MANLY(?) and further direct that the money laing (sic) in the hands of MATTHEW DAVIS be equally divided between my sons JAMES and JESSY KING and further I direct that JAMES and JESSY KING be my whole and sole Executors. Signed and sealed this eighteenth day of September one thousand eight hundred and twenty-two. Witnesses: JON WOOD JAMES X KING JAMES RUSSELL His mark JONATHAN ____ LYON Anyone recognize any of these people? Rochelle
