Hello List, This is my first posting and I am hoping that someone will see something familiar here. My grandmother King was born Mollie Louisa (Louella?) Eliza Williams in either Middlesboro, Ky (Bell Co.)or somewhere in Tn. in 1876 to a Cherokee woman and a married man named Williams. He and his wife raised her. My mother wrote the Ky. information in my baby book and Mollie submitted the Tn. information to the census taker! Her parents were from Tn. also so she said. I can't say for sure where she came from. She married my grandfather, James Wiley King b1854 in Tn., Ky. or in Ok. Territory in 1889. I don't know whether he met her there when he went for the Land Rush or if he knew her somewhere before. James Wiley King was from Asheville, NC. (Buncombe Co.) His father was from Va. and his mother from Tn. Her name was Mary Prince King Huff b1830 and she was apparently widowed twice. She was with Mollie and James in the First Territorial Census of OK in 1890 in Caddo Co. James King died in 1915 and Mary and Mollie died in 1910--all of them in Oklahoma. I just wish I had more information--and more surnames so I could tie these folks to someone. I have devoured the Buncombe Co. census from 1850 to 1900 and could not connect him there for certain. So I just listen to and look at everything that comes along in hopes something will click! Rita Tanner - Keizer, Oregon
