John Edwards KING, born in 1757 in Prince William County, Virginia, saw service in the American Revolution. He moved to Kentucky before the formation of Cumberland County, and finally practiced law in Burkesville. He served several terms as County Court Clerk as was active in the Kentucky Militia. In the militia he served as a brigadier-general at the Battle of the Thames on Oct 13, 1813, and was third in command in that battle."
