Charles King and his wife, Charity Pennington, came to Newberry Co., SC about 1750s...They had been, I believe in Cleveland Co. NC prior to that... I believe Charles King's parents are Jacob King and Keziah Butler but I know nothing else... More than likely Jacob was German or Swiss...That is some information that King's Mountain was named for Charles and Charity... I believe Jacob and Keziah came from either the southern edge of PA or northern edge of VA or Frederick MD The Pennington's came from Essex Co. VA.. about 1730s....Can anyone out there help....Charles was a wonderful pioneer of SC.....Anne
