    3. --- >I have some missing Kings and am trying to find them wherever I can. > >My Kings were in Lauderdale Co., Alabama in the early to middle 1850's. They migrated from North Carolina (county unknown) to Alabama about 1830-31, but no definite proof where in Alabama until about 1845. > >My 3rd great grandmother's name was Catherine (maiden name unknown) King. Her husband/my 3rd great grandfather's name is unknown. There was a James M. King in the 1840 Lauderdale Co., AL. census that closely resembles Catherine King's household in 1850 Lauderdale Co., AL. census, but have no proof at all that he was her husband and father of her children. > >In 1850 Lauderdale Co., AL. census Catherine King is shown with her children as follows: >Catherine King-age 44-born NC >William A. King-age 23-born NC >Arnold-age 20 born NC (John J. Arnold) >Stephen age 19-born AL. >Emeline age 15 born AL. >Joseph age 14 born AL. >George age 11 born AL. >Luke age 7 born AL. > >Another son , Alexander King-age 24-NC, was living next door to Catherine in the 1850 census. His wife was Lydia McDonald, assumed daughter of Archibald McDonald. They married in 1850 in Lauderdale Co., AL. > >Another possible daughter Caroline born circa 1830 married James D. Scaggs in Lauderdale Co., AL. in 1843. > >William A. King and John J. Arnold King stayed in and around Lauderdale Co., AL. and Lawrence Co., TN. They married into the Yancey and Stutts families of Lauderdale Co., AL. > >Luke King migrated into Perry Co. and Hickman Co.'s of Tennessee. He married Sarah E. Curry. > >Emeline married Henry McDonald in Lauderdale Co. in 1856 and they appear in the 1860 census of Lauderdale Co. However, I don't know what happened to Emeline--assuming she died by 1866, as Henry McDonald remarried in 1866-67 to Angeline Holden. I think I have found Henry and Angeline in 1870 in Giles Co., TN. and 1880 in Lawrence Co., TN. However after this, I don't know what became of this family. > >Stephen and George King migrated sometime in the early 1850's to Fayette Co., TN., then on to Monroe and Prairie Co.'s in Arkansas by 1860. They married Rideout sisters, daughters of John Rideout. > >That leaves Joseph and Alexander. They are my missing Kings, along with Caroline King Scaggs. > >Joseph and Alexander left Lauderdale Co., AL. sometime in the 1850's. I assume they left about the same time as Stephen and George. The only info I have on Joseph is the approximate year he was born and where--nothing else. > >I know that Alexander married Lydia McDonald in 1850, but no other info is known about him. I haven't a clue as to where he went after he left Lauderdale Co. > >The mother Catherine King also disappeared about the middle 1850's. The last record I have of her is in 1853 in Lauderdale Co., AL. Whether she died about this time or maybe she left with one of her children, I don't know. She wasn't with William A.,or George, John J. Arnold, or Luke. That leaves Joseph and Alexander. Maybe she was with them, where-ever they were. > >This is my big problem--where are they?
