    1. [KING] Kings of Orange/Alamance County, North Carolina
    2. Hello King List, Below is my King family as far as I can determine it from records found in Orange County, North Carolina, in the part which eventually became Alamance County in 1849. I am hoping to find some information on the earlier antecedents of these Kings. Perhaps the given names will provide some insights for those of you who have taken your lineages back a few years before my earliest 1772 estate records. For those of you who find some help from my data, I would appreciate your attaching my name as the source for you. That is the only payment that I wish for the countless hours I spent in courthouses and archives trying to pull all of this together. Best regards, John Fox Winston Salem, NC 1. Samuel KING Notes: Possible early ancestor of the following Kings. He died intestate and the estate sale, according to the 1772 Estate Papers listed as buyers: Thomas King, John King, Elizabeth King, Edward King, Armour King and Benjamin Roney. Benjamin Roney was a resident of the part of Orange County which became northern Alamance County. The following Kings lived in that part also.IT IS ALSO POSSIBLE THAT THIS SAMUEL WAS THE SON OF JOHN KING AND BROTHER TO THOMAS, EDWARD, JOHN AND ARMOUR! It is possible that Samuel's wife was Elizabeth because Samuel King and Elizabeth King were appointed Guardians to Ann Rainey, an orphan of James Rainey, age 12 at May Court Orange County 1766, Item 447. Also, Elizabeth served as co-administrator of the estate with Edward King, 26 October 1772. In Orange County Wills of 1811, Benjamin Rainey mentioned his wife Nancy and his son-in-law John King, to whom he left land adjacent to the Guilford County line Children: John 1.1 John KING Death Date: Circa May 1797 Death Place: Orange County, North Carolina Notes: In his will dated 17 February 1797 and probated May 1797 John King leaves the bulk of his estate to his son John and $1 to each of his other sons, Thomas, Edward, Amour, William.
