Hello list members, This week so far, I have submitted to all of you the following: 1880 CNWColored Census of Oklahoma (partial) 1869 CNWest Census of Oklahoma (partial) 1902 Dawes- Freedmen (partial) 1906 Dawes- Freedmen Minors (partial) IMPORTANT NOTICE : These records are all from original documents. 1869 CNWest Census These Jim Hicks transcribed from photocopies of the original document. 1880 CNWColored Census These were transcribed by Barbara Benge from photocopies of the original. 1902 Dawes Freedmen These are OCR transcriptions scanned from a NARA index to the 1902 Dawes. Jim Hicks has worked a lot with the Cherokee by Blood transcriptions and says there are errors. 1906 Dawes Freedmen Minors Same as above. Now I suggest that any of you who are using these names in your family geneology, MUST and SHOULD refer to 3 books, that I know can be bought cheaply, for this FREEDMEN RESEARCH. Volume one covers those Cherokee living East of the Mississippi River, Volume 2 covers Cherokee who were living West of the Mississippi River.
