    3. Published in the “Georgia Journal” issue of 5 Oct 1819: Baldwin Co. Rev. Pierce, will preach the funeral sermon of Benajah King esq. on the 5th Sabbath in Oct. Source: [email protected], “GA Journal” 1819-1823 Post #11, April 26, 2002 I believe this is the same Benajah King, resident of Burke Co, GA in 1805, who bought Lot 299, 4th Dist., originally Baldwin, later Morgan, Co, GA, from Mary Wilks of Burke Co, GA, and who died in Morgan Co, GA abt. 1819 leaving his widow Elizabeth and four minor orphams: Henry S. (or T.?) King, Mary King, Elizabeth King and George Clinton King. Tandy Dix King, b. 18 Nov 1793 in Stokes Co, NC, d. 21 May 1883 in Fayetteville, Fayette Co, GA, served as guardian for some or all of these minors. For example, see Jeanette Holland Austin, "The Georgians: Genealogies of Pioneer Settlers" (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., 1986), p. 207: "On 5 Mar 1827, Tandy D. King and Chas. Collins gave $1000 bond as gdns. of George Clinton King and Elizabeth King, orphans of Benajah King." Tandy Dix King is buried in the King family cemetery in Fayette Co, NC. A Henry S. King is buried in the same cemetery; his tombstone reads: "Henry S. King, b. 1801 N.C., d. 2/5/1843, formerly of Morgan Co, Ga., son of Benjamin King and bro. of T. D. King." Mary King married Eli W. Harrison 12 Sep 1824 in Henry Co, GA, and died 1880-1881 in Fayette Co, GA. Bill King [email protected]
