    1. Re: [KING] KING families of southwestern Virginia - 1700s-1820s
    2. That was an amazing e-mail. There may be a chink in my brick wall after all. Thank you. I have a William R. KING in Botetourt County near the town of Buchanan in the mid-1800s, although I have yet to find him in any census. He was born about 1835, but I'm not sure where. He married Margaret Ann BEAN on 10 October 1852 in Buchanan, Botetourt Co., VA. Unfortunately, he was wounded within a month of joining the 28th Virginia Infantry, at the Battle of Williamsburg (May 1863) at the age of 28, and died in a Union hospital in Washington, DC. I cannot find anything about him so far as to where and to whom he was born. I have been gathering info on the Botetourt Kings since about 1800, so let me know if you are interested in any of that data, but as extensive as your data is, you probably already have it. William and Margaret had 2 or 3 sons, of which John stayed in the Buchanan area, and Thomas Daniel KING (my direct line) went to Clermont County, Ohio, arriving about 1880. I would hope that something might sound familiar here. Let me know if anything sounds like a match. Gary King Batavia IL
