    2. This is lengthy, I'm sorry, but only way to explain and perhaps relate to any of you. I'm coming to Missouri next week for a good 2 day ancestry hunt(might be more days) and wondered about several things. Like getting copies of marriages from county/state books, copies of census records that I don't have.  Church Records?  Birth Records? Just a few heavy duty items that I can't get here in Indiana and on the Web.  Would any of you suggest the counties or state records(which is best).  Also, Cemeteries?  Anything is appreciated.  I have found most of the census from Ancestry.com - however I'm sure there is more! Hi Folks: Earlier, someone on this BB recommended the use of TopoZone for topographic maps of Lincoln Co. TN and elsewhere. I went to the address mentioned, which was:http://www.topozone.com/map.asp? Initially, I was unable to get in to the site, but after deleting the data after the slash mark, I had no problem. So I think it is safe to say one should use: http://www.topozone.com/ for viewing samples of TopoZone maps. The topographical maps offered by TopoZone were basically developed by US Governments Geographical Survey Services over a long period of time. However, TopoZone has made it easy to search them by locality and other identifying terms; rather than the technical terms that the US geographical map services uses when you order from them. Topographical maps usually show the location of family cemeteries that were developed by our ancestors; and in rural areas, the maps show the location of schools and churches, as well as roads and hills/mountains. Initially, you do not have to register with TopoZone to view segments of topographical maps. They apparently cover the entire USA, just go to the areas that may be of interested to you and name the location of interest. In fact, I was able to download and print selected maps somewhat like one does the travel maps produced by Map Quest and other like Internet services. However, if you wish to secure commercially/government printed copies of the original maps from TopoZone, you must register your Internet address. They promise not to sell or rent you Internet address. In my case, I choose Petersburg, TN for my initial map search; since that is where my early KING line settled around 1800 or so. From there I clicked on the delta mark on the right side of the maps displayed to go all the way to the Chestnut Ridge area (about 4 frames to the East), where the Chestnut Ridge Church is shown. The KING and HARKINS family cemeteries also appear in that frame and more clearly in the one that precedes it to the West. Other family cemeteries appearing on the maps were: OLDS, GREER, MOORE and the Petersburg City cemetery named OLD ORCHARD. In order to make very readable copies of the map segments, I set my printer to print in a horizontal (or landscape) format. I also suppressed printing of the second page of the maps, since they only contained map scale information. Oh yes, also set the TopoZone program to print a medium size map, instead of the small map that is the default format. Even though my wife died recently, I still don't have much time to correspond with others regarding genealogical matters; maybe by early next year I will have more free time. My new home address is: 19375 Cypress Ridge Terrace, Blue Ridge Building Unit 509, Leisure World of VA, Lansdowne, VA 20176-5186. Hope you enjoy getting a somewhat detail map of areas where your ancestors previously lived at no cost; except for your computer time, paper and ink! Bye for now. 3. Hi Bonnie, I have some Kings that moved to Lake Odessa but there is no one by the name of Charles or Charlie. There is a cemetery there called Lakeside (Lakewood) cemetery that you can check with. I also had some luck contacting the library in Lake Odessa. It has been a couple of years ago now, but maybe someone there can still be of some help to you. My King family came from England, settled in Canada and then moved to Ionia Co., MI. My gr gr grandparents are buried in the Saranac Cemetery in Michigan. One of their children was Rebeca Estella KING. Rebecca married someone with the last name of Walker. They had five children and lived in Lake Odessa. If I come acrossed anything I will let you know. Good luck! I thought that I had the location in Canda that they were born in. I guess I don't have that yet. James and his family came to Michigan and settled in Ionia County, MI. When their children were grown they spread out to Kent County, MI and Saranac, MI. James and Mary had 6 children. I have made one contact with someone who is related to this King family. 2. Betty McCollum
    3. I am a descendant of Richard King, b. ca. 1705 in Dublin, Ireland, through his son Robert King and Martha Barclay. Would like to hear from others who descend from this line. Also, I have a book entitled "Will Abstracts, Vol. 1, 1753-1805...Rowan Co., N.C.", and Rowan Co., N.C. Deed Abstracts, Vol. 1, 1753-1762" . There are Kings listed in this book. If someone would like a lookup, let me know. Betty McCollum -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
