    1. Re: [KING] Sorting out repetive names in Genealogy!
    2. I have so little information on them I really couldn't say; father, George Sherman King born 1908 Havana, Cuba; his parents (George Sherman King and Lena Haugen) married August 1903 in San Francisco, CA: This GS King was in the military, that is why they were in Havana when my father was born. The family returned to San Francisco and remained in that area. (but I still have no hard evidence;; my brothers visited there as children.) I do know my father was married to a Dorothy O (unknown) born in WA about 1909. I found this in the 1930 census, they were living in Oakland. I also know they had a son, Lawrence. About 9 years later he married my mother, who was living in Escondido, near San Diego, CA.

    3. Good-day, This is not my Mason Co. 1. Re: Visit to Lincoln Co. Genealogical Society Building 1/31/06
    2. Hi Dora Whisenant: Thanks very much for answering my subject message. I appreciate receiving the information you sent. It will be a great help in locating your library. I think I drove out to see it once years ago, but it was closed. Unfortunately, I was not able to come back at a later time or date. It is quite possible for my Gr. Gr. grandfather Ephraim King came from Orange County, SC when he and family migrated to Lincoln Co. TN during the early 1800's. Oral family history and documented data that I have been able to develop, indicates that he was most likely born in VA and that his parents migrated to Wilmington, NC, then to Linconton, NC. My great grandfather Andrew Jackson King indicated in an early federal census record that he was born in NC. However, other data indicates that Ephraim King married in SC; perhaps in Pendleton District. SC. Then they subsequently migrated to LCTN, perhaps after a short stay somewhere in SC. If you are others have documented Ephraim King and his family migration prior to their move to LCTN, I would appreciate it if they would share the documentation information with me. I will certainly be willing to share the information that I have developed on this family after they migrated to LCTN; which is quite extensive and covers several generations. Currently, my plans are to be in Fayetteville, TN no later than noon on this coming Tuesday. I will telephone you later on Monday to confirm my arrival time and appointment with you. Thanks again for your response and related information. Tom King, Sr.

I have a John King who married a Sarah Cameron and in my family as it many others I know the mother's maiden name is often used as a second Christian name. Their daughter Deborah Duff King was my 4xg grandmother born 1772. Don't know where! Died in Woolwich, Kent, England. Don't know if she was British or Canadian. She married John Bogg/s in Quebec City in 1788. Her husband was English. We think he was in the British Army serving in Canada at the time. They had eleven children although I only know two Edmund Bogg my g-grandfather, the eighth child and his brother Thomas Bogg. I know there is the information out there somewhere but my living cousin John Bogg won't share it with me and its my brick wall. 1. Kings of Monmouth County, NJ
    2. Hi Folks, It's been over a year since I've posted to this list, so... I recently obtained the death record of my great great grandfather, Francis King (b. 1830 d. 1897). It confirms that he was the son of Charles H. King and Mary Ann Kittle or Kettle. Mary Ann Kittle was the daughter of Job Kittle and Jerusha Ayers according to many online databases, although I'm looking for confirmation of this. Charles H. King was the son of John King who brought his family from England to Monmouth County in the mid eighteen twenties. I believe they were among the founders of Wall Township. The online database have it that Charles King's mother was Sophia Horsley, but I believe her last name was Johnson.and Charles's middle name was Henry, not Horsley. The databases also show that the King family came from Shoreditch or Clerkenwell, but I've been able to trace this family to Little Braxted, Essex, England. My own file concerning this King family is on RootsWeb's WorldConnect; name: mbc157588. The link is http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=mbc157588&I11.x=0&I11.y=0 I'd be happy to hear from anyone doing research on this family. Thanks, John F

    1. William & Elizabeth King of Darlington, SC
    2. Bill King
    3. Surnames: KING, KOLB, COLEMAN, WITHERINGTON, FOUNTAIN, JOHNSON. Searching for ANY researchers having info of the following WILLIAM KING family of Darlington, SC. William King had brothers John King, Sr. (married Patience Speight ) and James King Sr. (married Catherine Coleman). Catherine Coleman was the daughter of Rev. James Coleman & Rachel Kolb of Darlington. NOTE: William King is said to have been buried on the Fountain Homeplace in Darlington, SC. Elizabeth King (maiden name not known; wife of William King) migrated to Conecuh County, AL in early 1820's following William's death in SC along with John King Jr. and Rev. James Coleman and other SC families. These family groups were dismissed from Mechanicsville Baptist Church in SC in 1823 and joined the Bellville Baptist Church in Conecuh Co, AL in 1824. John King Jr. & Elizabeth Coleman King are buried at Bellville Baptist Church Cemetery in Conecuh County, AL. John King Jr. was serving as the Recording Secretary for BBC at the time of his death in October 1829. ....July 24, 1824 (minutes of the Bellville Baptist Church as copied by Margaret Gaston): "The church met agreeable to adjournment after Divine worship sat in conference. A door was opened for the admission of members. First, received REBECCA JACKSON by experience; Second, received by letter the following brethren and sisters, viz: JOHN ELLIS and CATHERINE (McCrainie) ELLIS, his wife; SARAH FOUNTAIN (dau of John Fountain), ELIZABETH S. (Eliza King) FOUNTAIN (widow of John Fountain); JAMES COLEMAN and CLARESSA (King) COLEMAN, his wife; CATHERINE (Coleman) KING (widow of James King, Sr.); JOHN KING and ELIZABETH (Coleman) KING, his wife and SARAH C. KING, his daughter." <<This would establish the arrival in Conecuh of above families from Darlington, SC by 24 July 1824.>> John King, Jr. is shown as the "messenger" for the Murder Creek Baptist Church (now Bellville Baptist Church) in the 'State of the Churches Report' of the Bethlehem Baptist Ass'n (1826-1845) for the years 1826, 1827 & 1829. John King, Jr. was serving as the Church Clerk at Belleville Baptist Church when he died in 1829, according to the Minutes of the Church (microfilm copy reviewed by Bill King in 1999). ____________________________________ Family of William & Elizabeth King of Darlington District, SC 1 William King b: Bet. 1760 - 1765 in SC d: 31 Mar 1818 in Darlington District, SC, buried at the Fountain Homeplace in Darlington. 3. Hi Mac, I wonder if we connect? My KING ancestry ('recently' discovered by me a year ago thanks to someone providing me records from Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Georgetown Univ.) is in the Georgetown area. One of my 3g-grandfathers on my maternal side is John POORE. He married Sarah BOOTH (I had the given name, Sarah, from census records but not her maiden surname until I received the church records, either). Then, Sarah's parents were listed in the marriage register as Edward BOOTH and Mary KING. Sarah was born about 1820 (from census records) and she married John POORE on 10 Feb 1836. Sarah's father, Edward BOOTH, was shown as deceased on the marriage record, so Mary King Booth was a widow by 1836. The following is from a register of parish records now kept at the Georgetown University Library: "P. 41, 10 Feb 1836, John POORE, son of the late Francis POORE and Mary WITSELL (possibly WHITSELL) and Sarah BOOTH, dau of the late Edward BOOTH and Mary KING. Witnesses William HOMILLER, Henry KENGLA, Lewis KENGLA, Jacob KENGLA, and Teresa DUVAL" Do you perhaps have an idea how my Mary KING may connect to your William King who was in Georgetown by 1795?
The link is _http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=mbc157588&I11.x=0&I11.y=0_ (http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=mbc157588&I11.x=0&I11.y=0) I'd be happy to hear from anyone doing research on this family. Thanks, John F
