I am researching J.W. King from Missouri. He was born in Missouri around 1860. He had 4 children: Atha Geneva (my grandmother), Inez, Raymond W. & O. C. (Clyde) I am trying to find out his wife's name and who his parents were. J. W. was living in Bynumville, Missouri (Chariton County) in 1931 according to my grandmother Atha's obituary. He may have lived in Ethel, Missouri (Macon County) around 1950 when he died. Inez died in 1937 and married a man named Wooleridge. O. C. (Clyde) lived in Kansas City, Missouri and died around 1970. Today is my birthday - yeah, Friday the 13th - and I'm hoping some kind soul can offer me a present. For those who may not have seen this before, I'm looking for anything on John KING, his wife Janet Greig JACK, and his family. John came from SCT to the States in 1860. He met Janet aboard ship, and they married soon after arrival (my information says 5/14/1860, in Baltimore, MD). They settled in Raleigh, Wake Co., NC, where John bought property in 1869. The family appears on the 1870 and 1880 census lists, including the following children: Christine, b. 1863 - d. 1938 William, b. 1865 - d. 1927 George, b. 1869 - d. bef. 1880 John P., b. 1871 - d. 1931 Margaret, b. 1874 - d. 1948 Janet, b. 1877 - d. 1953 Peter Robert, b. 1880 - d. 1956 The family apparently moved to Baltimore after John died (probably before 1900 in Raleigh), where Janet Jack died in 1910. She and five of the children are buried in Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore (though the cemetery says Janet is not there). John and son George would presumedly be buried at Raleigh. The last child, P. R. King, moved to IN and died in Elkhart, IN, is buried at Bloomington, IN. If anyone has any information at all on any of this King family, please contact me. Should anyone have access to Raleigh cemetery records or Baltimore marriage records, and the time to do a lookup, that would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Bob King

Hi Folks: I have been trying for several years to define just which KING family in NC that my gr-gr grandfather Ephraim KING came from. I have noted from census records that some of his neighbors in TN were from ORANGE Co.NC. One was a nearby neighbor named Baxter KING, another was BARHAM; their were others that I do not recall just now. Some of his neighbors were also from WAKE Co. NC. My ancestor, Ephraim KING, was born about 1785 in NC. He married a lady named Jane HARKINS around 1804, most likely in SC according to oral family history. Their first two children were born in NC. The family moved to Lincoln Co. TN around 1815; since Ephraim made a purchase at an estate sale of a relative named David McCANTS on 1 May that year in Lincoln Co. I have found data indicating that two persons with the name Ephraim KING served in the 1812 War from NC, one from Onslow Co. and another from one of the western counties that I don't recall the name of just now. There was also an Ephraim KING that served for one month with Col. James Ford's Regiment, Lt. James Hollis' Detachment, south of the OHIO in 1794. But my Ephraim was apparently not old enough to be that Ephraim, unless my birth date calculation, based on Ephraim's published age at death, is incorrect. Ephraim and Jane (Harkins) KING's children were married in Lincoln Co. TN and named: James G. who married Nancy SORRELLS; Andrew Jackson who married Isabella Emmaline MITCHELL; Martha G. who married Jessie NORMAN; Shadrack A. who married Mary D. McADAMS; Susan C. who married John HOLLY; Ephraim Carroll who married Sarah Jane BAGLEY: Eleanor M. who married William SORRELLS; Washington A. who married Theodocia E. Chris, I too am looking for Kings from Maryland and you are the first I've seen. I have no idea where they came from in Maryland, and all I know is what my gg-grandfathers obituary said about his parents, and that was that George Harvey King was married to Margaret McElroy and came to Washington Co. PA, in the early 1820's, and lived about a mile from Majorsville (I just found out this town is just over the state line in W. Va.) when their son James King was born in 1826. Also in the 1860 census for James King's family there was and older John King listed at his residence as a laborer on his farm, which was near Claysville & Good Intent area in Wash. Co., Pa. Do you know if your Elijah King had any siblings? Sure would like to make a connection with some Kings from MD. Thanks, Paula

Hello! I am researching the KING family for a friend. He has found that David KING Jr. was born 15 Oct 1800 in KY or SC (?). David married Jemima P. GOOCH in Muhlenbery Co., KY, abt 1820. Have an ancestor William Taylor KING states pob as MS who lived in Ouachita and Rapides County LA in early 1900s. The residents of the community in which he lived - upon his death - stated that the community KINGSville, LA was named for this William Taylor KING. Following his death he passed on considerable lands to his descendents. In pre-1906 LA land records however, I see no William Taylor KING who owned land in the proper time frame in either parish, only a HENRY W. KING, who did indeed own considerable land.
