I am in search of information on my great grandfathers family, they are from Alsace-Lorraine. My great grandfather was Felix Koenig b. Mar 1858; he had 2 brothers Louis b. 1862 and Joseph. Their original surname was LeRoy (French) but when Germany took over they became German and changed their last name to Koenig. I know Felix and Louis came over to US together in 1882 and Felix settled in Minn, MN.; I have no idea where Louis went to or what happened to Joseph. If anyone can help me on ways to search for my great great grandparents as well as Louis and Joseph I would appreciate it. Thank you. Kathy Hammond

Carol - Does your Mary King happen to be married to William Kearns/Keeran in the early 1700's? That is my only King so far! According to my Kings-they were all passionate Presbyterians. BIG families. About 11 kids were the norm. I can't definitely tie anything to your list. I notice you have 2 Thomas W. Kings. Were they in North or South Carolina? They look about the right time period to match up one of my Thomas Kings! I would be interested in any info you have on them so I can see if they tie in. If so, I'll be glad to send you what I have. -----Original Message----- From: Carol C-H [SMTP:cch@netdoor.com] Sent: Sunday, March 29, 1998 11:24 PM To: KING-L@rootsweb.com Subject: KINGs in my data King cousins - if you have these folks in your data, please post to me - maybe we can connect. Okay, Carol - here's my King problem. My gggrandfather, James Madison Cloud, married Margaret Drummond King in Murray Co, GA in 1838. She was born in VA according to some censuses and in TN according to other censuses, but we have been unable to locate her ancestors. We are hoping her mother was a Drummond (see following paragraph), but have no evidence to confirm that. They later lived in Murray Co. GA, and in McMinn and Polk Counties, TN, and Margaret (Peggy) and the children ended up in Scott Co, MS, after James died. Do you see a connection with your line? A Daniel Drummond died in 1841 in Murray Co. GA. A John King died in Habersham Co, GA, in 1835, showing a wife, Nancy, and a daughter, Margaret, among his heirs. As Habersham is close to Murray, and as both are in far north GA just below McMinn and Polk Counties, TN, I am hopeful that Nancy's maiden name was Drummond and that her daughter Margaret was my Margaret Drummond King. Thus, if Daniel was Nancy's brother, Margaret could have gone to Murray Co. to live with him after John King died, and thus have been available for James Madison Cloud to marry her there. A far reach, perhaps, but. . . . . .! Any ideas, anyone? Albert H. Cloud 10939 Crooked Creek Circle Dallas, Texas 75229 acloud@airmail.net 214-368-1846

While looking throught old files I found a brochure on the Newport RI Mansions. Thought you might want to know there is one called "Kingscote" It is located on Bellevue Avenue. The discription in the brochure reads like this "KINGSCOTE IS A CHARMING COTTAGE BUILT IN 1839 BY RICHARD UPJOHN FOR GEORGE NOBLE JONES OF SAVANNAH, GEORGIA. CHINA TRADE MERCHANT WILLIAM HENRY KING ACQUIRED IT IN 1864. IT CONTAINS ORIGINAL KING FAMILY FURNISHINGS. THE MCKIM, MEAD & WHITE DINING ROOM WAS ADDED IN 1881. You can view the cottage at : http://198.49.179.4/kings.html There are many sites that tell about Newport RI on the internet. For you that do not have access, contact me. Michelle Wakefield RI
I have recently come across a manuscript at the NGS on the King-Farquher family of Delaware and Ohio. It deals with the family of James King, son of James and Mary King, who was born 26 April 1752 in Sussex County, Delaware, and his wife, Nancy Farquher, daughter of George and Hannah Farquher. James and Nancy married 21 April 1784 in Sussex County, Delaware. According to the manuscript, James was previously married to an unknown woman and had a son named James, who was born February 12, 1781 in Sussex County, Delaware. James and Nancy had nine children: Hugh, born February 15, 1785 in Delaware; Mary Jane, born December 26, 1786; David, born May 18, 1789; George Farquher, born May 07, 1791; Henry, born February 09, 1793; Hannah, born July 25, 1795; William, born February 27, 1798; John, born August 10, 1801, and Nancy Ann, born December 5, 1803. After the death of James in 1819 in Delaware, Nancy moved to Ohio with some of her sons. The manuscript is dated 1967 and contains much more information on this King family. I am not sure if it is the King family I have been searching for, but I thought I would post this in case some other researchers on this list have been looking for information about this King family. It would appear that this King family spread out into Logan County, Ohio; Marion County, Ohio; Hardin County, Ohio; and Kenton, Ohio. I am happy to do look-ups if anyone is interested. Regards, Rochelle
Ransom King, the son of Joseph King who died in Bute Co. NC in 1773, appeared in the 1800 NC census as a resident of Montgomery Co. His wife who apparently was living with him in 1800 must have died and he married Lucy [Clifton] Williams by 1812. Then in 1816 he married Abigail "Addy" [Tucker] Rogers, the daughter of George Tucker, in Wilson Co. TN. I would like to correspond with anyone researching these KING and TUCKER families. Roger O. Willingham
I recently discovered this deed information about the King family of Orange County, North Carolina. It appears that the family may have originated in Lunenburg County, Virginia. The transaction took place between the brother of my ancestor, Joseph Royster, and the King family who had already settled into Orange County, North Carolina. Hope this helps someone John Fox Winston-Salem, NC A deed dated 29 October 1759 and recorded 6 May 1760 in Lunenburg County, Virginia states, " John King and Hannah, his wife, or Orange County, North Carolina to Jacob Royster of Lunenburg County....cons. 100 pounds.....238 acres on both sides of Grassy Creek and 385 acres adjoining "(Deed Book 6:67)
