    3. Listmistress, will someone please explain the fuss over red pages. I, of course, receive nothing but black on white, and would appreciate a "once and for all" explanation of what the problem is and how to correct it, thus significantly reducing the amount of extraneous messages on the list. Thanks, Al Cloud. Albert H. Cloud 10939 Crooked Creek Circle Dallas, Texas 75229 acloud@airmail.net 214-368-1846

    3. In a message dated 98-04-24 17:34:48 EDT, you write: << From: "Mary Guffey" <Maryg@mcn.net> >> Hi Mary: The book you mentioned is not commonly placed on inter-library loan. You might try the nearest LDS Family History Center. There you might find that they have it on microfilm which you may borrow for viewing on their reader for about 3 to 4 dollars for shipping. Tom King, Sr. P.S. If you are the person using the red background that your incoming message came with, you might like to know that it is very difficult to read. May I suggest a more contrasting color; just plain black and white, or black print on light yellow like this message. Tom.

    3. Jim, My Kings are from MD, but I have yet to be able to locate the area. All I know is that George Harvey King settled in the Washington Co., Pa. area in the early 1820's and that he was born in Maryland. He married a Margaret McElroy and I don't know if it was in Maryland or Pa., or WVA. Family records state that they settled 1 mile north of Majorsville in Pa., but Majorsville is just over the border in West Virginia. I also believe George had a brother John, as he is included in the 1870 census with Georges son, James, family in Pa. Census shows John King born in Maryland. John was 67 at the time so he would have been born abt. 1802/1803, and George I'm assuming about the same time. Your very right about not much traffic on this list for MD-Kings, but maybe that means that there were very few of us? And hopefully that would make it easier for us to find our families. 3. Tom, I am on several mailing lists and they are all getting complaints on the red backgrounds-just in the last week or so. Maybe it is something aol is doing. Seems like most of them (if not all) are aol users. 1. KING - Baltimore, MD
    2. Jim Bishop
    3. Are there any of you on the list that have KING ancestors in MD? How many King-L and/or King-D subscribers are there??? I joined the list in hopes that the circulation was extensive enough that it might have some with ancestors in MD, naively perhaps not realizing that the King surname is so common as to reduce serious probabilities of connections with those who might have ancestors in Baltimore area of MD. After scanning the digest lists since June of 1997 without any success, my guess is that there is not a large enough following to justify the time I do have available for my family work, in hopes of discovering some new links.
