    3. I don't have anything for you but I am interested in the answers you receive. I have both Kings and O'Neals in North Carolina in my family. Details are few--Hugh O'Neal c. 1795 inRowan County NC, his daughter, Lovie O'Neal b. Oct 6 1820 in NC (no place given). Hugh's wife was Margaret Trout b ca. 1795. Also, Thomas King rumored to have come from NC. Thomas' son, Thomas, married into a family that originally came from Granville County. Would you let me know if anything you gets sounds familiar? -----Original Message----- From: David Bowden [SMTP:dbbowden@mindspring.com] Sent: Wednesday, May 20, 1998 7:14 PM To: KING-L@rootsweb.com Subject: King families in Rogers Store area on the Wake/Durham NC line If anyone on this list has researched the families King or O'Neal in the area surrounding Rogers Store on the Wake/Durham NC line or knows the history of New Bethel Baptist Church in the same area will they please contact me. 1. NY Kings to WI Kings pre-1869
    2. Terry King
    3. I'm looking for any Kings that moved from NY to WI before 1869. To update: a very kind Adams Co. WI lookup volunteer found my George Earl King's parents on both the 1900 Fed. and 1905 state censuses. They were Joseph S. King b. 1869 in WI and Armina or Ermina b. 1855 in WI. George had an older brother named Dodie and an older sister named Mabel. Joseph was a farmer in Adams Co.. The 1900 census says that Joseph's father was born in NY and his mother born in MI. I have no maiden name yet for Ermina but will order their marriage record listed in the state vital statistic index as occurring in 1895. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? 1. John KING
    2. RKing
    3. Once again, just in case there's a new list member who can help. I continue to seek any information on my grandparents, aunts and uncles. Grandparents were John KING and Janet Greig JACK, both of SCT, who came to the States in 1860. They met aboard ship, were married very soon after arrival in Baltimore (on 5/14/1860 or 5/19/1860), then settled in Raleigh, Wake Co., NC. John King purchased property on Hargett Street in Raleigh in 1869. He is listed in the 1870 and 1880 censuses as a stone cutter, is not found later - is presumed to have died (in Raleigh) before 1900. Janet Greig Jack was the daughter of James Jack and Jane Rattray of Cupar, Fife, SCT, though she was b. 1839 in Scoonie, Fife. John and Janet had 7 children, all born in Raleigh: Christina O. King, b. 1863 - d. 1938 in Baltimore, MD William King, b. 1865 - d. 1927 in Baltimore George King, b. 1869 - d. bef. 1880 (not shown on that census) John P. King, b. 1871 - d. 1931 in Baltimore Margaret Kng, b. 1874 - d. 1948 in Baltimore Janet, b. 1877 - d. 1953 in Baltimore Peter Robert, b. 1880 - d. 1956 in Elkhart, Elkhart Co, IN With the exception of George and Peter, all the above children are buried in Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore (Lot #221, Bethel Section). In the same plot is a Willie King, d. 1910 at age of 6 weeks. Janet Greig Jack d. 1910 in Baltimore; per her obit, she was to be buried in Loudon Park Cemetery, also, but the cemetery says she isn't there. Please forgive the length, but I wanted to put forth as much info as possible. The only other lead I have is a letter from a Gilmore King to "Aunt Daisy" (my mother) which has a return address of Rittenhouse Street NW, Baltimore - this from back in the '40's. If anyone has anything that will help me with any of these people, please come back to me directly. Many thanks. Bob King

    1. Thomas King of Marlborough, MA
    2. DGlynn97
    3. I am looking for info on Sarah King, m. circa 1656 to Nathaniel JOSLIN, d. July 2, 1706 in Marlborough. She was the dau. of Thomas King of Marlborough; I have no info on her mother, her birth, nor siblings. I've read that Thomas made deals with local indians to acquire land in the Marlborough/Lancaster area, thus establishing those settlements. Massachusetts Vital Records indicate several Thomas Kings living at that time. In particular there is one from the Weymouth/Hingham area. The JOSLIN and other families that settled in the Marlborough/Lancaster area originally settled in Hingham. I'm wondering if Thomas King did the same. Any info, suggestions, or references would be greatly appreciated. Please email me @ DGlynn97@aol.com. DJ Glynn

    1. My Kings once again
    2. Kathleen King Moffett
    3. Hi all, I haven't sent out my info in a while, so here's hoping someone new will see something that rings a bell: My ggg-grandfather was a man by the name of Edward King. He was born in Clifden, Co. Galway, Ireland, but where exactly in Clifden, I don't know. His wife (name unknown) was allegedly from the island of Inishbofin. Apparently, he and his family moved from Clifden to Gorthmellia, Co. Mayo, Ireland during the Famine. I have a pretty good lock on what he and his descendants did once they got to Mayo, so now I'm trying trace him back, and I've got some add'l info/clarifications. Previously I'd been under the impression that Edward's sons, Sean and Seamus, were very young when the move was made to Mayo, and that Seamus might actually have been born in Mayo. Now it seems that Sean King was a grown man in his 20s or 30s, w/ a wife (name of Mary Cannon, who may also be from Galway), and that Seamus was probably grown (he's a mystery man himself...but that's another story, LOL), and that Edward King's wife might not have come, might have been dead etc. Do any of these names ring a bell w/ anyone? Does anyone have a Clifden Edward King who disappeared off the face of the earth? I have no clue whatever as to Edward's siblings, parents, the exact part of Clifden he may have been from, etc. The only add'l bits of info I can add are these: Sean and Seamus appear to have used the names John and James interchangeably. Mary Cannon (Sean's wife) was alive and kickin' in the late 1890s, so she (and by extension her husband) could've been born as early as 1810?? So I'll hazard an educated guess for Edward's birth would be *no earlier* than the late 1740s (which would make him truly ancient when he moved to Mayo) and no later than say 1800 or so, if he'd married young and if his eldest son was in his 20s in the mid- 1840s. Thanx and God bless, Kathleen Kathleen King Moffett kkmoffett@bigfoot.com http://members.xoom.com/CathGrrl/index.htm

    2. Gary K. Lee
    3. Hi all, My relative Jim King and I are finally making progress on our ancestry, having found we descend from the following couple: Stephen King (Sr.) and Dorcas Watson (daughter of Robert Watson and Rebecca Richmond) who married on 24 Feb. 1789 at Exeter, Washington Co., RI. There is a marriage record also of Earle King and Content Richmond (married on Jan 24, 1768 at Exeter, RI). We suspect these are the parents of Stephen King Sr. We don't find this family in the birth records of Exeter and have been trying to look elsewhere. I am wondering if it is a failure of the records to be recorded. Does anyone know of the book that exists that would include this family? I am hoping to visit the local LDS Family History Center this week and plan to take a look at their listing of books on the King surname. I am sure there are many of them and I would like to narrow down the possible books. Many thanks. Gary Gary K.
