Hello, I continue to look for my great grandfather John Wallace KING. He also went by James W. KING. He was born in Utah ( we think) in 1849/1850. He married Catherine Shuster CULLINAN, born in Wyoming in 1869. John and Catherine King lived in Salt Lake City, Utah in the 1890's. He was part owner in a wholesale fish and seafood shop downtown Salt Lake City called Gibson and King. They had three children: John Wallace KING, JR.-born 1887 in Utah Charles Sheridan KING-born 1891 in Utah Marguerite KING- born 1894 in Utah Catherine died in 1897. John took the kids west to Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, WA. He placed the two younger children in the Providence Academy in Vancouver and then went back to Utah with the oldest son. He never saw the two youngest children again. We tracked him to Weiser, Idaho in 1901. That's where the trail dries up. Thanks for any help. Janis Foley

Hi fellow KING researchers: My KING - HARKINS line migrated from NC to central TN during the early 1800's. Oral family history indicated that they migrated westward from the Wilmington, NC area to Lincoln Co. TN, via way of Lincolnton County of NC. They may have been from VA during late 1700's. My KING line made frequent use of given names like: SANFORD, EPHRAIM, SHADRACK AND JACKSON. Allied family names included CHAPMAN, MITCHELL, McCANTS, SORRELLS and GLIDEWELL. Do you have these names in your KING line? If so, there may be a connection between our KING lines. Will exchange genealogical data at no cost. Re: Kings I have a Thomas W. King born May 23, 1825 that married a Susannah (Susan E) Fowler b. Oct 19, 1828. We know that they had a daughter Elizabeth King b. June 23,1850 in Atlanta. We know that they came up the Mississippi & on into the Arkansas River unloading at Fort Smith . Fort Smith was an important place in the history of Oklahoma. This was an important trading post and was the first United States military post in the Indian Territory. Just before Okla was admitted as a state in 1907, a law was passed by the United States Congress giving the original ground and location of the old fort, on the east side of the Poteau River to the City of Fort Smith Ark. Other children born were: Thomas M King b Dec 26 1859 in Newton Co Ark, Neeley King died in Clovis New Mexico, AF (Gus) King b June 19, 1868 & Lora J King b Nov 15, 1853./ Where they made their first home, we are not sure but there is a marriage certificate for Ralph Hill & Elizabeth King. On the marriage certificate it listed them both as being from the county of Skullyville and Choctaw Nation. Skullyville was first known as the Choctaw Nation of the West. It was established about 1938 as the terminus of the Trail of Tears when the Choctaws were brought from their homes in Mississippi. I do have more info on their deaths and their families. We know that the Hills were merchants. It has also been said that Gus worked for a Mr. Reynolds that had lots of land in the bottoms on the Ark. river. I really hope this could be a connection. Let me hear from you. Virginia Kay

Seeking information on german born Conrad King or Koenig and his son Albert King (born PA) who married Margaret Pfeifer. Albert fought in the Civil War so I assume his father was born in the 1830s or 40s.

I am working on the TYNES' on my side of the family and the KING's on my wife's family. I only have the TYNES' back to the mid-1800's when they arrived in the Jackson Purchase area of Kentucky via Tennessee. I only have the KING's back to my wife's grandfather, early 1900's in western Virginia (Pearrisburg area). ---Stephen Phelps. Charles B. Stanley wrote: > Charles B.
