Here is the posting for my King family. My grandfather was born Nov 27, 1897 in Halifax Co. His name was Rufus Bennie King. He lived in Halifax and Warren counties before moving to Wilmington about 1917. He married Myrtle Retha Reynolds of Hallsboro N on 7-9-1915 in Weldon NC. His father was Thomas Benjamin King who was born in Halifax Co on 10-2-1870 and died in Wilmington NC 5-9-1951. He married Ida Harris (b. 3-2-1876 and died 3-16-1916 - daughter of Henry Walker Harris and Lucy Salmon, dtr of Henry Salmon and Henry's first wife who died in 1887 and then he married Mary C. King, parent's unknown). He had the following Children, most born in Halifax. Rufus, Herbert, Henry, David, Lucy, Odie, Ruby, Sally Bet, Eva. Benjamin's father was Robert King, called "Bob". He was born 1-1-1830 in Halifax Co NC and married 1st Sarah Chambliss in 1862 who died before the end of the war. (Bob was captured in the seige of Richmond - his regiment is unknown to me). He then married Sallie Nannie born 10-20-1850. (Her parents were Douglas Nannie and Nancy Mosley of Brunswick Va), Bob and Sallie had the following children Frank, John W., Walter, Steward, Bengham, Mollie and Beaman) Robert (Bob)'s father was called Jack King on Bob's death certificate. Since I have seen John W above as Jr. on some documents, I guess his name would have been John Willis King Sr. Apparently he has died by the 1850 census where Bob and brother's Mason (who married Sarah Hodges) and William are living with James and Betsy Jarrell (this is probably his mother remarried). Would appreciate any information on any of the above names, King, Harris, Salmon, Mosley, Nannie, Jarrell. Martina Simmons

Hello KING cousins, Carol and Lou have given their appoval for us to list a web site for all of you who have KING family members who came from Ireland. While you're posting to the regular KING list, why not include your Irish history. Some of us have banded together that are searching KING families specifically from Ireland. There are so many, many KING families, that we're trying to narrow the focus a bit. Thanks. Also........if you'd like to join the Irish KING family list, send a "subscribe" message to irish-kings@makelist.com My own KINGs came from the areas of Clifden, Rahoon and Omey Island County Galway, Ireland. They emigrated to St. Louis in 1846. John KING left his two boys to be cared for by his family and went off to America after wife, Elizabeth O'TOOLE died from the blight. I believe his father's name was Edward, son of Bartholomew. Many, many KINGs came from that area. Perhaps you'd like to share your information with both lists. Let's hear from you.

To the group: I decend from the Stafford Kings of VA,--- Capt William King who married Judith Peyton. I do have web site thru familytreemaker.com/users/p/e/a/Katherine-A-Pearsongardner/GENE6-0001.html. I branch from William King who served in the Revolutionary War and moved to KY with his brothers. It took a long time to connect my 4xgrandfather John B. King to this group of fine men, but I finally found a family letter which gave me just the inforamtion that I was looking for. John B. King was born in KY on 11 05 1787 in Nelson County Ky to William King and Lettice Bland. In 1805 He married Mary Polly Cash daughter of Warren Cash in Nelson Co.,KY Warren Cash officiated at the service. John and Polly then went to live in Hardin Co., KY to be near her family. They lived there for about 10-15 years. John and Polly then moved to Orange County IN and lived 1 mile from the post office in the Hillsbough neighborhood. They frequently visited with REV. Jerimiah Cash, Polly's brother and a circuit minister. By 1830 Polly had died. John B. moved his family to Warrick Co. IN and in 1844 he died and was buried in the Lynnville Cemetary. He was a farmer and a minister as well. Two of his sons: William B and Warren King married two sisters and moved to Clay Co. ILL by 1850 which is where my family originates and my father was born. Well thats enough for now. My little web site has most all of the names and dates. But I would love to share with anybody who decends from the Nelson KY King branch and the brothers: Withers, Nimrod, John Edwards, Valentine, George . as Well as William Jr. most all of the brothers served in the Revolution and recieved land grants in KY for their service. Eager to hear from and share information. Kathy

King cousins, Because of pressing family commitments, Lou Pero has found it necessary to take a break from being listowner of this list for a while, so I am once again your listowner. I hope that she will continue to be active on the list whenever she can. Please send a post to the list about your KING ancestor(s). Include where and when he/she/they lived, and send it to KING-L@rootsweb.com so that we can all try to connect!!! If you have a website with your KING line, please post your URL to the list. If you have data from censuses or wills, etc. that is not from copyrighted material, please post that to the list. If you have copyrighted material (book, etc.) that contains KING data, please offer to do lookups for your cousins on this list. Let's work together and find some ancestors!!!! Ginger wrote to my request to find my William King b. NC about 10 Jun 1800 md. abt 1827 d. 9 Feb 1870 Greene Co., Indiana. She has a James King md. Martha "Patsy" Sanders 1791 in Stokes Co. NC with children Barney B., Joseph, Robert, William, and John. Ginger, I had problems with my computer, so I don't know if my previous message sent to you yesterday went out ok or not. So I might repeat myself. The Stokes Co. NC seems like a good lead. However, the names don't match. Where you have nice common names, my William named his kids the following: Mary A. King b. 11 Feb 1828 d. 13 Mar 1828 John Preston King b. 27 Jan 1829 d. 29 Sep 1836 Lorenzo Dow King b. 2 Apr 1831 d. 17 Aug 1856 md. Martha Hunter Ira King b. 25 Nov 1834 d. 1 Dec 1834 Elizabeth Breedlove King b. 29 Jul 1836 md. 17 Feb 1857 to Milton Abrams d. 18 Jan 1926 (This is my line) Lovina King b. 2 Sep 1838 d. 1914 md. William Hunter I feel sorry for this family. All the kids but two died young. About the North Carolina Stokes Co. tie. That looks appealing to me because James F. King and wife Barzillah (Now that's a name you can trace down the generations) were in Greene County Center township when William was there. So I've got to get into the Stokes Co. records and see what I can dig up. There is a Daniel King in Brown Co., Indiana. He also was born in NC and I think he might be related to William. William was in Brown Co. since Elizabeth Breedlove King said she was born near Nashville, Brown Co, Indiana. Daniel was born 24 Jan 1785 in NC and md. Abriller (now that's another great name). I'm sending this to the list and to Janet Bower who wrote about James King in an archived e mail 12/5/97. Maybe we can find some other cousins who are working on this line. _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. I am looking for information pertaining to the following surnames: KOENIG, KUENI, VETTER, JUSSEL, BERLINGER, HAMERLE, FITZ, KELLER most of whom were originally from Vorarlberg, Lustenau, Austria.
