    3. Jeanette- I happened to find some information for you in a book of Wills and Estates from Granville County, NC. Susannah Lanier's father was Thomas Lanier, and mother was Frances (brothers and sisters are also listed). George King and Susannah Lanier King's daughter Elizabeth married a Robinson. 3. Dear King rooters, The MA-King email has encouraged me to throw my KING hat in the ring! I have an E. B. (EBENEZER) KING, b. 1810 in the Carolinas. Some of our family believe he descended from a New England branch of KINGS. A family story revealed he was related to the family of RUFUS KING from MA-CT, but who served in the Congress from NY. His mother was named ELENDER, born 1778 in Maryland. She was 32 years of age when he was born which suggests she had older children. We do not know his siblings either. Ebenezer and his mother first show up in Lincoln County, TN in the 1830 census. It is thought Ebenezer was a recipient of a land grant, possibly from his father's service in War. His first son was named MILES KING, which also seems to fit with some of the MA-King information. If any of these "pieces" fit into your puzzle or remind you of some KING history that would help our family find the father of E.B. (Ebenezer) KING, I would be so grateful to hear from you. Sincere thanks, Jo Hughes, Seattle

    3. I am researching the following King family in Jones County, Ga, during the 1800s. I do not know where they originated from or at what point they moved to Jones County,Ga. Will (probably William) King and his wife, Beaty (spelling?), are believed to be the parents of John Thomas King. John Thomas King was born in Jones County, Ga, sometime in the 1800s. He married Mary Ann Spear of Jasper County, Ga, prior to 1877. They had a daughter, Eula Belle King, on 6 Apr 1877 in Jones County, Ga. Eula Belle King married Charles Lee Smith from Lee County,GA, prior to 1897 when their son, William Joseph Madison Smith was born. They had more children, including my grandfather, Charles Madison Smith. I would appreciate any assistance. Thanks, Christine Reynolds creyn@cyberstreet.com

    1. [KING-L] KING - Va 1820>ATHENS CO. OH. c. 1830
    2. Hello, I'm new to this list, althought this query isn't new. I do have a little more information on Lawrence. I'm trying to make a connection between Lawrence King of Wod (Wood?) Co., Va. and Lawrence King of Athens Co., Ohio. The 1820 census shows the Va. Lawrence had 3 sons who could be Robert, James and Joshua in Ohio. Lawrence was born c. 1760-70, his wife is in the same age group in both census records. She may have been born nearer 1760 than 70. I have no proof that Lawrence was the father of the three men other than they were all born in Va and the census fits. In Ohio, Robert lived next door to Lawrence in 1830 then disappears. James m. Lydia Powell and lived next door to Larwence in 1840 and there are no sons with L. There is another James who married a Teresa, but I believe he came from Pa. There is also a Pennyslvania Joshua King who married a Susan at about the same time as my Joshua but they did not stay in Athens-Vinton County. Joshua King from VA. married Susan Llewellyn. (If anyone knows if she is the daughter of Thos., I'd love that too!!!) They had ten children and married into old Athens co. families, Knowlton, Robinett, Dickinson for a start. There have to be many King families in that part of the country - would love to hear from a descendant of any of them. Thanks, Pat Snyder

    3. One more time. "My" John King (my grandfather) came to the States from SCT in 1860. He met Janet Greig Jack aboard ship, married her in Baltimore, MD, soon after arrival. They settled in Raleigh, Wake Co., NC, where they had 7 children by 1880. The family is listed in the 1870-80 NC census reports, not in the 1900 report. We know that Janet Jack died in Baltimore in 1910; her obit states she is to be buried in Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore. (A friendly "rooter" checked for me and was told she is not there.) Five of the children are buried in Loudon Park Cemetery. We assume that John died before 1900 in Raleigh, and the family then moved to Baltimore. The children, all b. in Raleigh, are: Christina, 1863 - 1938 Baltimore William, 1865 - 1927 Baltimore George, 1869 - bef 1880 Raleigh John P., 1871 - 1931 Baltimore Margaret, 1874 - 1948 Baltimore Janet, 1877 - 1953 Baltimore Peter Robert, 1880 - 1956 Elkhart, IN My information says John King and Janet Greig Jack were married in Baltimore 5/14/1860. Janet , we believe, was b. 1839 in Scoonie, Fife, SCT, to James Jack and Jane Rattray. However, we can find nothing at all on John prior to his arrival in the States. Peter Robert King was my father. If any one can offer any information at all on any other member of this King family, please contact me. I've seen a number of references to John King of NC, but none that fit. Any help would be appreciated. Bob King <buzzard@mvillage.com>

    3. The King I am researching is William S. King, b April 26, 1846, Ga., died Jan. 9, 1911 in La. Married Mary Jane Arthur in Claiborne Parrish, La. His middle name may be Sinclair. He is buried in the Union Springs Cemetery, Shongolo, La. He had a brother Daniel P. King, born 1854 in Ga., wife was Ophelia, b 1846. He states his parents were both b. Ga. One possible father I have found is Robert A. King, m 1-2-1840 in Forseyth, Ga. to Mary E. Gober. Robert came to La. also. There are a lot of Kings in La. but have only been able to find one Robert. Any help would be appreciated. Joyce Moore
