I am still searching for my ancestor, Nancy KING, b c 1787 in either NC or SC. She married before 1810, James PURSLEY, b York Co, SC. They lived in McMinn and Polk Co., TN. She moved to Catoosa Co., GA before the Civil War and possibly died in Catoosa or Whitfield Co., after 1870. Their children were: daughter married to NAPIER, Sarah married to Samuel DUGAN, John, Thomas King, William, Nancy married to Moses MATLOCK, and James G., married to Hannah LONGLEY, my ancestor. Any data for this family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Juanima McFarland macdol@mindspring.com

Hi Roger: I have been trying for a long time to prove where my gr-gr grandfather Ephraim KING and family resided before moving to Lincoln Co. TN around 1815. Since oral family history indicated that he and family were from VA and NC prior to moving to TN, I have been collecting data on KING families that had someone in their family named Ephraim King. I have found an Ephraim KING in Sussex Co. VA. Does your family have a connection with that family line? Or perhaps the Harkins line with which Ephraim KING intermarried? Hi Folks: Considerable genealogical data regarding the subject family lines is available on the Internet for free. It was contained in a book titled FROM WAGONS TO SPACESHIPS, published by the author. Note Chapter 2 and Appendices A and B for details. Much of the data predates the Civil War era. The Internet address is: ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/tn/lincoln/books/wagon/wag2star.txt Copies of the book may also be found complete with many pictures and charts at your local library, or through interlibrary loan. For a few dollars, microfilm copies may be viewed at your nearest LDS Family History Center. Following are some other family lines of the publisher that you will find data on at the above address. These family lines are mostly from east coast states, from DE/PA south and east of the MS River; especially from PA, VA, NC, SC, AL and TN. The author has collected more data on some of the listed family lines since the book was published a few years ago. Note his current e-mail address below for possibly more recent data than is shown in the book. There was also a migration of people from the Caswell area in the early 1800's; but the families I speak of settled there ca. 1750. The Oliver name is also prominent in the area. I am seeking information on Henry G. (possibly Goldman) King who came to the North Georgia area supposedly from South Carolina in the 1820's. Family tradition states that his father was Silas King, although I have found no supporting evidence. Henry married Mary Christopher in Hall County, Georgia in 1832. He and Mary lived in Lumpkin County, Georgia. They had 11 children. I have some information on all of those except one that I will be glad to share with anyone who is interested in this line.
hopefully the attached information will help clarify our branch of the King family. John & Caroline lived in the Garrard County/Lexington KY area. Several of their children (David Granville, Lina (Tide) and William) moved to McLean County IL, where many of their descendents still live, farming the land that has been in the family for several generations now. Others, (Barthena, Jess & Nancy) stayed in Kentucky, and were living there in the 1950s and 60s. My own family (William Lee, s/o David Granville) moved to Des Moines Iowa around 1916-1920. I don't know where the family originated, and I don't know of any connection with Alabama or other southern states until several of the children from my father's generation settled in Georgia...some in the 1960s/70s, and some in the late 1980s. Why don't you tell us novices just how to do just that, ie. "enable" MIME and maybe, then, you could explain even what that is to us beginners. I am new to the list and thought I'd post what information I have. According to my GGrandfather, his grandparents were Christiana KING and Joseph THOMAS. I am looking for information on Christiana and her family. Here is what I do know. She was probably born in the 1820s or 30s. She was the daughter of Judge Angus McDonald KING (d. 1853) and Hester JOHNSON who lived in Americus, GA. I've also been told that Angus KING's parents were John KING and Annie MCDONALD. Can anyone tell me more about this family? Thanks, Jannie
