1. Edmund The third child of William King and Elizabeth Edwards is said to have gone to Pittsylvania when a yound man. Would the reference to Pittsylvania be to Pittsylvania Co. in VA? The Edmund I am researching is said to have deeded the land for a new court house after the forming of Pittsylvania Co. 2. There is a reference to a will for Valentine King: Valentine KING, b 1747, received land in Jefferson Co., Ky. for Revolutionary services, also in Fayette Co. will proved April 13, 1790, which mentions "my beloved mother" Elizabeth Edwards KING, and his brothers and sisters. Does someone have access to records for Fayette Co. who could check to see if the will is on record and if it mentions Edmund? Thank you, Thurmon

If anyone needs to send me any email for awhile, please be patient. At 4:00 this morning my grandmother, Edna White King Gilliland passed away and I'm going home for the funeral. Say a Prayer, Rene
Jeanette Cliff's not right here, but I'll show him your messages when he gets back. For now, I'm forwarding one of my King mailing lists, only because there's been some discussion about MIME with this group. In this digest list, about half way down someone explains a little about it. From what it says, it appears it's something that is common with AOL. We are not on AOL, and we don't seem to ever have to deal with MIME. Maybe the note from "Pam" will make sense to you...? Kathy

Hello King Rooters, It seems like there has been quite a bit of action on the KING list during the week that I was on vacation and returned. I haven't been able to keep up with all the messages and believe that I may have missed quite a bit. If there has been some discussion on Henry Co., VA Kings, I would like to correspond with those folks. I am descended from Henry Co. pioneer George King; his son, Thomas King; and Thomas's son, Columbus King. Some information that I have indicates that George is a son (or grandson) of William King and Judith Peyton. Does anyone have information on George's heritage? or on the George's wife, Mary Niblet? Thanks, Susan Clanton Simpson
My ggreatgrandmother was Catherine Cecilia King, married to Edward Francis Hughes. They lived in Camden, New Jersey but at one time lived in Phila., Pa. Catherine was born in 1870 in Phila. She had a sister Margaret A., b. 1876, and a brother Alexander. Their father's name was John King who was married to Sarah Cannon. John King was born in Scotland. Does this fit into anyone else's line? Melinda Brassill in NJ
Henry Co., Virginia KING Family I found these two pages of records torn loose and tucked inside one of two Bibles that belonged to my grandfather, Robert Lee Clanton, grandson of Sarah Stockton and Columbus King. I remember these records from my childhood as I always noted that William, son of Nancy, shared my November 3rd birthday (although his entry says 3th). I had wondered what had happened to them and recently rediscovered their existence along with some other bits of family history in an old trunk in my aunts garage. The Bibles are badly damaged and falling apart from moisture but I did remove them to a drier area of the house. I have recorded the information from these pages as I see it and have not added punctuation marks or changed the spelling of any entry. A few were difficult to read. Under the section that was titled Births, Negroes, I wasnt sure about the spelling for Amunwas - both the A and the M appear to be in capitals and it may be A. Munwas or Amunruas. Also, it seems in other family materials that Sallie was used as a nickname for Sarah. Hope this is a help to someone.
