Okay, I visited my genealogical library today and have some things I'd like to "throw out" to everyone to see if anyone connects to any of these people. I'm hoping to find the parents of our William King, born sometime in the 1790's in Vermont: 1) Does anyone have a Salmon King, born 1784 in Sunderland, Bennington Co., VT, whose mother is Charity (Sherwin) King? It looks like Salmon had at least two brothers named DeWitt C. King and Chauncey--two names that our William also named HIS sons! Did Salmon have a brother named William? 2) Is anyone related to or researching the Caleb King found on the 1790 Sunderland, Bennington Co., VT census? Did he have a son named William? 3) Is anyone related to or researching the John King also found on the 1790 Sunderland, Bennington Co., VT census? Did HE have a son named William? I look forward to hearing from someone!!! Lori Houston, TX
Jeanette, Your post to the King list really interests me. My g-grandfather, John D. King married Malinda (we think Plunkett) in 1844 in Old tishomingo Co., MS. Family researchers believe that John D. King was the son of Thomas King of St. Clair co., AL. Linda
Hi: I am looking for the parents and siblings of Elijah King, b. 1839 in Elijay, Murray County, GA, d. 1899 in Pope County, AR, and his wife, Martha Harkey, b. 1839 in North Carolina. Elijah came to AR between 1840-1850. Any help would be appreciated. Nancy Hamm
I am trying to locate the e-mail address or name of the individual who listed this King family tree FTM CD#14 . The Family of George King from Garrard County KY. Thanks Doyle King jgk000@aol.com
Hi Folks: (Re-listing for newcomers) I have been trying for several years to define just which KING family in NC that my gr-gr grandfather Ephraim KING came from. I have noted from census records that some of his neighbors in TN were from Orange Co., NC. One was a nearby neighbor named Baxter KING, another was BARHAM; their were others that I do not recall just now. My ancestor, Ephraim KING, was born about 1785 in NC. He married a lady named Jane HARKINS around 1804, most likely in SC according to oral family history. Their first two children were born in NC. The family moved to Lincoln Co.... TN around 1815; since Ephraim made a purchase at an estate sale of a relative named David McCANTS on 1 May that year in Lincoln Co. I have found data indicating that two persons with the name Ephraim KING served in the 1812 War from NC, one from Onslow Co. and another from one of the western counties that I don't recall the name of just now. There was also an Ephraim KING that served for one month with Col. James Ford's Regiment, Lt. James Hollis' Detachment, south of the OHIO in 1794. But my Ephraim was apparently not old enough to be that Ephraim, unless my birth date calculation, based on Ephraim's published age at death, is incorrect. Ephraim and Jane (HARKINS) KING's children were married in Lincoln Co. TN and named: James G. who married Nancy SORRELLS; Andrew Jackson who married Isabelle Emmaline MITCHELL; Martha G. who married Jessie NORMAN; Shadrack A. who married Mary D. McADAMS; Susan C. who married John HOLLY; Ephraim Carroll who married Sarah Jane BAGLEY: Eleanor M. who married William SORRELLS; Washington A. who married Theodocia E. BURROW Would appreciate receiving additional data on my KING family line. Will share data with others working on primary or related lines. Tom King, Sr. 619-451-3833 San Diego, CA.
I am looking for ancestors of my GGF George WADE KING (b. 1839 NC)(d. 1923 Lauderdale Co., MS) who said he was raised along the PeeDee River and went to MS with the HOBGOOD family. He joined the CSA in Lauderdale Co., MS in 1862. He married Ann Rainey Miller after the War Between the States. Theophilus HOBGOOD married Sarah BIRMINGHAM and moved to Tischomingo Co., MS by 1850. Sally KING was living in the home of Peter MAY and Martha BIRMINGHAM in the 1850 Anson Co., NC Census. Margaret KING, age 15, was living in the home of Joshua MEACHAM, 23, Naomi BAYLEY, 72, Charles KINDLY, 34. (Could this last name be KING instead of KINDLY? It doesn't look like it but maybe the Census Taker misunderstood.) Who are these people? I would like to discuss these people with any interested persons. Deeds - Loudoun Co, Va recorded 1779 Francis KING of Somerset Co, MD - widow Thomas KING of Somerset Smith KING of Loudoun Co, VA - witness to deed I am studying the KINGs in Loudoun Co, VA during the mid-late 1700s as it appears very likely that they are related to my KING line which moved to KY prior to 1800. In the process of studying some Loudoun Co deeds, I found 2 deeds that mentioned Francis KING - widow and Thomas KING of Somerset Co, MD. The deeds concerned land that they owned in Loudoun Co, VA and one of the deeds was witnessed by Smith KING of Loudoun Co. This indicates to me that these MD and VA KINGs may have been related. One deed stated "which was granted to the said Francis KING and Elizabeth KING's heir mother to the said Thomas KING by patent Sep 12, 1772". I would appreciate communicating with anyone on this. THANKS!! Donald KING
I have been trying to get info on John Hobson King and it seems to be very conflicting. From 4 different sources 2 agree with the birth date of 6 July 1779. I found a John King that was born on that date in Oscar Benjaminn King's book p.59 that was from a family Bible held by a S.B. Parker. Since it doesn't give the middle name I hesitate to accept this as the John I am looking for. Neither one of the other 2 has any date of birth for John Hobson. Again 2 of the sources but not the same 2, say he was born in Bertie County, NC. One states England and the other states Wilmington, New Hanover, NC. All 4 sources agree that he married an Elizabeth Parker, two with the date of 28 Mar 1787 and one has 28 Feb 1787. The other source does not give a date. Two sources state they were married in Gates Co., NC, one says Williamston, NC and one implies Wilmington, NC. Two give his father as William King (one of those gives Middle initials of I.G.), and his mother as Amelia Slade. One gives his father as Michael and mother as Mary Hobson. The last one gives his father as Mickle and his mother as just Mary. This one lists only one son, Benajah, who was exec. of his estate when this source says he died in 1828 in Dallas Co., Alabama. The other three sources do not give a death date or location. One source gives John Hobson only 2 children, Thomas Benjamin b. 1803 and Fannie Wiggins King. The two remaining sources give the same number and names of children, leading one to believe they came from the same original source (Oscar Benjamin King's book). The children were: James, Mary, John, Nancy, Amelia, Thomas Benjamin b. 1802, Alexander Augustus, Richard Rufus, Robert Remington, and Benejah. I am trying to connect my James King to the first child born, James. If you take the birth date and marriage date from the 2 sources that seem to have come from Oscar Benjamin King's book John Hobson was not quite 8 years old when he married Elizabeth that was 17 years old. Since my James was born in 1796 John Hobson would have been 17 years old. I am not willing to accept these facts (?) and I wonder where the truth lies. If anyone has any information on John Hobson King I would be extremely interested in seeing it. This is a new E-Mail address for me but I remain Janet King Bower Buznjan@worldnet.att.net

I am searching for any information regarding Eri KING who married Nancy VANDEBURGH, b 11 June 1839 in Carlisle (Holmes) OH, d/o Cornelius VANDEBURGH and Julia DAVIS. Thank you, Sandy
Patrick KING and his wife Catherine (GROGAN) came to this country from Ireland in the late 1830's. They worked on a cattle barge down the St Lawrence river until they reached Canton, NY. While there in 1840, Michael KING was born. Eventually the family made their way to Port Washington, Wisconsin, where Patrick died from sickness one winter around 1850. Catherine took her children- Patrick Jr., Michael, Steven, Susan, James, John, and Alice- and moved to Lapeer Co., Michigan where she remarried several times. John died while a prisoner in the civil war, and Patrick Jr. and Michael also served in that war. If anyone has any info on this family, please contact me. Thank you for your response; and in such a short time too. You really put an end to that idea didn't you? Thanks again, Thurmon
According to records from Good King Felderhouse: The parish records do not show Vaentine King as a son of William and Elizaebeth yet his will proved in Nelson county 13 April 1790 he names beloved sisiter Elizabeth Owens, beloved brother John Edwards King, beloved mother and brothers William, and Wuthers King. ( Nelson County, Val. King Will recorded page 1 Libra A.) Valentine King was never married but there is strong presumption that he had an illegitimate daughter named Elizabeth Crips, by Mary ( or Nancy) Brashears. In his will he left Elizabeth Crips " during her natural life" two hundred acres of land in Jefferson County plus his mare "called Fenix" and three thousand weight of tobacco. these last tow bequest were to Elizabeth and her heirs. Does anyone have Kings in Illinois? I am still researching John Peerless KING, born 28 May 1839 Illinois, died 24 May 1880 Conway, Faulkner Co., Arkansas. John may have lived in Tennessee before appearing on the 1860 Conway County, AR census at age 21. I have his Civil War records, his listing on the 1870 AR census, and have traced his descendants, but I cannot seem to get a breakthrough as to his parents, siblings, or county in Illinois where he was born.
