Help! Does anyone have any information on any of these Kings? I am particularly interested in Nathan J. King--can't go any farther back than him. Family rumors have it that either he or one of his ancestors left a huge estate in England and emigrated to American due to religious reasons. No further information. Don't even know if it is true. Dear King Researchers, I am interested in finding more information on a Martin King who married a daughter of James Gilliam, Sr. in Cumberland County, VA before 1774. Martin King is mentioned in the Will of James Gilliam as his son-in-law. I also believe James Gilliam is related to a Charles Gilliam, also of Cumberland, County, VA. This Charles Gilliam married Elizabeth Woodson the daughter of Drury and Lucy Christian Woodson. Two of Elizabeth Woodson's sisters marry Philip and William King. Any help would be appreciated. Here's my line. James Gilliam Sr. (? -1774) of Littleton Parish, Cumberland County, VA Children of James Gilliam, Sr. and ? 1. James Gilliam Jr. married Susannah 2. Sally Gilliam 3. Judith Gilliam married Joseph Taylor 4. Daughter married Martin King Thanks, Gregory Archer Gilliam GreGilliam@aol.com
Hi everyone, I recently connected with some people who MIGHT be connected with my William King line. William, born 1794 in Kingston, Addison, Co., VT. Married Sibyl Clark abt. 1815 in Ontario (probably Kingston, Ont. or Prince Edward County, Ont.). It looks like his parents may have been Jared King (b. 1774 in MA) and Polly Dean, married Sept., 1793 in Kingston, VT. All the children that are conjectured to be theirs are: William (b. 1794) Calvin & Luther (b.1796--twins!) Lyndia (Malinda) (b. 1799) Elizabeth (Betsey) (b. 1801) Laura (b. abt. 1805) Jared D. (b. abt. 1806) Chauncey (b. abt. 1806) Sally (b. 1808) Moses (b. abt. 1816) John R. (b. 1817) Mary (b. abt. 1820) Jared evidently moved with his family from VT to Kingston, Ontario around 1800. At some point, possibly 1816 or so, he then moved to Gallia County, OH, where he eventually died between 1820-25. If our William really IS Jared's son, he seems to be the only one to have stayed in Ontario when the rest of his family moved back to the U.S. William and wife, Sibyl, lived most of their lives in Prince Edward County, Ontario. Now, does any of THIS sound familiar to anyone? :) Lori Houston, TX

Trying to find my great-grandmother Mattie King, b. abt 1890 in Texas; married first to a Mr. Stewart, had one child; married second George M. Fancher abt 1914 KY or OK, one child George Jack Fancher born OK in 1915. Mattie divorced George, probably about 1920, remarried but husband's name not known. She was a taboo subject so nothing about her has come down to me; what I know I gleaned from my grandfather's birth and death certificates. Anybody out there connected to her?
Dear Kathy, YES, my cousin and I do have an Elijah King. (For cousin info, check the copy to portion of the e-mail.) Elijah King married Elizabeth Dabny (Dabney found later) in Madison Co., AL on 14-JAN-1831. This would indicate to me that your Joseph was not the son of this couple. It is possible there was another Elijah King and I would be very much interested if you do find out about any more. Hello: Fellow King Family researchers I am looking for the family history of my Grt-Grt-Grt Grandfather - William King born July 10, 1779 in Virginia (Scott County or area which now makes up Scott County) William died Sept 27, 1865 My William King married Sarah (Hammer) Garner. She was born August 24, 1781 - but we are not sure where - possibly in Virginia, also. The name - Hammer shows up on some records, as does the name McClellan. Sarah died March 30, 1862 William and Sarah had 11 children: ........................................................................ 1. Rosa Ozina W. (Rosie) King b. Oct 16, 1810 _______________? d. Aug 30, 1888 Claiborne Ct, TN 2. Hiram C. King b. 1815 or 1816 Virginia d. 1871 3. Jennie Margaret King b. June 13, 1818 Claiborne Ct, TN d. June 14, 1898 _______________? 4. David A. King b. about 1820 Virginia d. ______? ___________? David was a Presbyterian Preacher - he was known as Reverend David King. He married Suzanne Fletcher about 1847. (They are my Grt-Grt Grandparents. I have records on most of the family - but not all.) 5. Elihu E. King b. Dec 22, 1824 _______________? d. Jan 30, 1898 Tazewell, TN Elihu is buried in the King Family Cemetery, Cedar Fork, Tennessee. 6. Emillie (Emilie) Amy King b. Nov 10, 1826 ________________? d. June 27, 1904 _______________? 7. Elias King No information He moved to Kentucky - never married. 8. Elcana (Elkuna) King No information 9. John King No information 10. Lucinda King No information 11. Minnie King No information ...................................................................... William and Sarah Garner King are both buried in Coleman Cemetery, Claiborne County, Tennessee, one-half mile west of the Hancock County line. I have cousins living in the area who have visited the site. There are several King family members who have been searching for the history of this line for many, many years. I will be sharing everything I find on the RootsWeb "King Family" site. Does anyone have my Kings in their history? We do know our Kings are said to have come to the New World (Virginia) in the early 1600's - possibly in the Second Virginia Charter or later -1620's to 1640's. We have always been told there were two King brothers who came to Virginia because they could not pay their debts in Scotland or England. They worked for 7 years to pay off their debts and married Indian women. We would love to trace them back...but we are ALL stuck on William and Sarah! Thank you! Sincerely, a fellow King Family member, Nancy Clayton :-)
