Okay, Carol, I'll send my information again. John and Jean King, with four sons and a daughter, arrived in what is now Adams County, Pennsylvania (then part of York County) in about 1730. Of the four sons, Samuel soon disappears from the records (possibly moving to the Carolinas, but that is only conjecture), William had no children, James seems to have moved to New Jersey, and Victor, my ancestor, married first Jean _____ and had 6 children: Jean King, b. 16 Nov 1746, m. William Laramar in Apr 1774; Hugh King, b. 17 Jan 1750 (served in the Revolution), m. 26 Oct 1780 to Abigail Vorhis (or Vorhees), d. 21 May 1811 in Adams County; John King, b. 22 Sep 1753; m. 24 May 1781 to Jean Dickson in Adams County; d. 18 Oct 1805 in Adams County; Agnes King, b. 10 Mar 1756; m. abt. 1774 to William McElheney in Adams County, d. ???; Victor King Jr. b. 30 Jul 1758 Martha King, b. 28 Nov 1760; m. 23 Dec 1783 to Robert McIlhenny in Adams County, d. 22 Aug 1845 in Adams County. Victor King's* first wife, Jean, died sometime in 1760 and on 8 Oct 1761 he married Jane Moffit*, by whom he had five more children: Susanna King, b. 25 Jul 1762, m. 10 May 1791 to Joseph Wilson in Adams County, d. ????; William King*, b. 3 Jan 1764, m. 2 Apr 1787 to Nancy Agnes Waugh* in Adams County, d. 18 Sep 1863 in Montgomery County, Ohio; Samuel Moffett King, b. 16 Feb 1766; James King, b. 31 May 1768, d. 4 Oct 1801 in Adams County; Thomas King, b. after 1764, believed to have died in Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana, date unknown. William King* married Nancy Agnes Waugh*, daughter of John Waugh* and Susannah Moffett* on 2 Apr 1787 in Tyrone Township of what is now Adams County. Them moved to Georgetown, Scott County, Kentucky in 1789, and then to Montgomery County, Ohio about 1799. Their children were: Mary King, b. 1789 in Georgetown, m. 1809 to James Bracy Oliver [there seems to be some disagreement here, as researchers of the Oliver family have turned up evidence that it was another Mary King that married James, but I have not seen that evidence], d. 1850 in Dayton, Ohio; Victor King, b. 11 Mar 1790 in Georgetown, KY, m. bef. 1817 to Eliza R. Lyle, probably in Scott County, KY, d. 6 Dec 1871 in Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana; John King*, b. 16 Oct 1791 in Georgetown, KY, m. abt Dec 1817 to Harriet _____*, d. 6 Apr 1872 in Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana; Samuel Moffett King, b. 11 Nov 1793 in Georgetown, KY, m. 15 Aug 1822 to Mary Crothers Williams in Dayton, Ohio, d. 13 Oct 1846 in Dayton; Susan King, b. 15 Oct 1796 in Georgetown, KY, d. 1817 in Dayton, Ohio; Jane King, b. 1800 in Montgomery County, Ohio, m. 7 Oct 1824 to David Osborne in Dayton, Ohio, d. 1829 in Dayton; John and Harriet King, after their marriage, lived the rest of their lives in Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana. I have never been able to find any record of their marriage, but there is a newspaper article in the Madison Daily Courier describing their 50th wedding anniversary celebration in December 1867. John's obituary says that they were married in Ohio, but there seems to be no record in Ohio. I also do not know her maiden name, however there is some evidence that she was his first cousin and was the daughter of the above mentioned Thomas King who died in Madison. John King* died in Madison, IN on 6 Apr 1872 and Harriet died, also in Madison, on 4 Sep 1872. Their children were: William King, b. 6 Apr 1820 in Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana, d. 30 Sep 1847 in Madison; Thomas King, b. 8 Oct 1822 in Madison, IN, d. 28 Mar 1824; Margaret Jane King*, b. 21 Jun 1825, m. 5 Mar 1844 to Josiah Stewart Weyer* in Madison, IN, d. 18 May 1857 in Madison, IN; Mary Elizabeth King, b. 3 Mar 1828 in Madison, d. 26 Mar 1838 in Madison; Nancy Waugh King, b. 16 Jun 1830, m. abt. 1851 to John R. Woodburn, d. 15 Apr 1872. All members of this family are buried in Springdale Cemetery in Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana. Margaret Jane King was my g-g-grandmother,and the last of the Kings in my line. Bill Brewer
Our King line: Michael Koenig b. 1744 Christian King I b. 1766 Christian King II b. 1793 Isaac King b. 1822 George Lachow King b. 1851 Big Mount Adams County, PA Harry George King 1888-1976 b. York, PA Robert 1921-1963 b. Hagerstown, MD We understand they immigrated from Rotterdam, Netherlands in the mid 1700's, and changed the name to King during a period of anti german sentiment in the mid 1700's. Mostly from southern Pennsylvania. I'd love to find out more but haven't researched this line too much.
My gggrandfather was Timothy Hinkle KING. He was the son of Rev. John KING and Rachel HIXON, both of Loudon Co. VA. John and Rachel moved to Fayette Co. OH where Timothy was born in 1814. I have a photograph (unlabeled, of course) that was found in the personal belongings of James Wilson KING, my ggrandfather (son of Timothy), that could very well be a photo of Timothy. Timothy died in 1884 so it is very likely that he had some photos made (I have photos of some of his siblings). I'm trying to locate another photo of Timothy to confirm (or refute) that the one I have is really Timothy. Are there any descendants of Timothy out there that know of any photos? Regards, John J.
Unfortunately, I don't think the Elizabeth King mentioned in this will is the Elizabeth I'm looking for, but maybe this will help someone else! >From the book, Pulaski County, GA Wills 1855-1906 Book "B" pg. 83: KING, NATHAN 5 Aug 1868, (P) 7 Sep 1868, pp 171-173 I am about thirty years of age and must soon depart this life from disease which is pressing upon my body. 1. I wish my body to be buried in a decent Christian manner and I trust my soul will rest with God because of salvation through Jesus Christ. 2. I leave eight dollars for pailing in my grave in a substantial manner. 3. To my brother THOMAS KING and his wife I give five dollars. 4. To my sister SARAH BRAIDY I give five dollars. 5. Haven't posted this in a while. Perhaps someone is listening who can help me learn more about my Elizabeth KING. She was born in 1821 in GA, and died July 13, 1894 in Pulaski County, GA. She married Zachariah Davis sometime before 1840. She and Zachariah had 17 children (the youngest of whom is my gggrandmother. I don't know anything else about her siblings or parents. In the book, Pulaski County GA Census Records of White Families 1830-1880 by Victor R. Myrick, p 225, Zachariah Davis, age 67, farmer, born in NC (both parents born in NC); wife Elizabeth, age 56; son Jessie age 21, born in GA (mother born in GA, father in NC); daughter Fannie age 16, daughter Matilda age 14, son Reuben age 12, daughter Betsy age 10.

Hi List, I was busy searching out another family line, on my dad's side, but I have read each post hoping to find something that looks familiar. I am a single mom who works full-time so my research time is pretty limited most of the time. When I run into some information about one of my branches I generally follow it as far as I can before moving on to another branch and right now it is my dad's Roberts family that is getting my time. A loose brick fell from the wall and I have been busy chipping away at Roberts, Myers, and Coons. I think my mom is feeling a little slighted because I haven't shown them anything about her side of the family in a while. :) Some of the information that follows was given to me by an aunt who had obtained it from a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th cousin who had done some searching, but I have no documentation so I cannot state that it is fact. My grandfather did tell me that his grandparents were George W and Elizabeth so I think most of that information on down is close. Someone in the family has mentioned that they think this family started out as STONEKING. I am wondering if the S in James S. King could be Stone? Well anyway, here is my info and an offer to do lookups in the Coffeyville, Kansas, area to anyone who needs one. Take care. Vivian Brinker vivianb@raven.ccc.cc.ks.us 1. King cousins, It has come to my attention that some of you have not posted in so long that you have forgotten how. To send a post containing your query (questions) or information about your ancestors to the list so that the cousins can see it and hopefully connect with you, send it to KING-L@rootsweb.com If we will all post our information and questions about our ancestors to the list, we are bound to make some connections and find parents for some of them!! Please remember NOT to ever include your street address or telephone number or information about living relatives in any post to any list. Carol <cch@netdoor.com> http://www2.netdoor.com/~cch/

King cousins, Am assuming a lot of you are teachers, and have not had time to post - the list is too quiet!! PLEASE post your lines and your queries so that we can connect!! If you will also include the primary states in which your KING ancestors lived in the subject line, that will be very helpful!! If you have a website with KING genealogy on it, please also post that URL!! I am still collecting 1800-1820 GA King info, and have a separate mailbox set up for this - if you have an ancestor who was in GA before 1825, PLEASE send me all the info you have about that ancestor (including names, etc., of all his/her children), and use the subject line GA KINGS - I will get back to you with any obvious connections, and will share the database with those who have sent their info. Good Morning Carol: I would love to find out about my King history - and have re-posted my family information below. I hope there is someone out there who might have something about my William King. As far as we know, we don't have any King members in Georgia, as most of ours moved from Virginia to Eastern Tennessee. I'm looking forward to hearing from any of my King cousins who are related thru my William King and Sarah Garner. Thanks.....Nancy :-) ....................................................................... Please help!! I am looking for any information at all on Baker King. What I do know is that his daughter Sally (Sara) King married John Jean Vaughn in 1797. Baker is listed as the Father of the Bride and John Vaughn is listed as the father of the Groom. If anyone has any information at all on any Baker King from any location, I would appreciate your help. Sincerely, Theresa Dlscajun1@aol.com
Hi, My name is Ann and I too am looking for Kings/ Koenig's. My husband's Koenig, Augustus, reportedly came from Germany with his 2 sons, Henry A. Koenig age 7, and Charles, age 6. He married Margaret Sonne ( Sonny) in Germany, He was born in 1814 and she in 1819. The entire family appears in the KY 1850 census. Charles King ( they changed their name from Koenig ) is my mother-in- laws grandfather. His son Arretus King is her father. It is reported that Henry A. King moved from KY to Indiana or Illinois and no one has heard from him since. We may be having problems tracing Augustus, because, according to the family stories, he and the boys escaped from Germany because Augustus had apparently killed a man. Is this truth or legend? Arretus had 7 brothers and sisters; Charles Frank, b:3/21/1874, d: 9/29/53, Lou Ella, b: 9/18/1875, d: 3/22/63; Edna King, born of second wife in 1882, Susan Alta born 1905, William Britton, born 1891, Margaret A. born 1894, and Effie born 1899. That's about all I have for now. Any one have any info on this family? I sure do need some help. Thanking you in advance, Ann
