    1. [KING-L] King book correction
    2. ccc
    3. Re: King family SC>Ga>Ar>Tx>Ca There is a family history book on the descendants of Wiley and Julia Hawkins King. Some information provided to the author, Marlene Thomas, was intentionally misleading. As a genealogist, I would like to correct it and present the proven truth. Henry Odum King b Sep 04, 1902 in Boyd, Wise Co Tx. d Nov 07, 1998 in Moulton, Lavaca Co Tx. and was the son of James Henry King and Leona Castleberry. He was married TWICE and had a one child from EACH marriage. 1. Henry Odum King married Winnie Elizabeth Hammack (NOT Winnie Lee Hamilton) in 1922. There WAS a child born of this union. Henry and Winnie had one daughter, Althea Lee King b Feb 16, 1924. Winnie divorced Henry in 1927 in Tarrant Co Tx proving grounds he would not work nor provide food and shelter for his his wife and young daughter, forcing her to return to her parents home. Divorce records state that she was given custody of their 3yr old daughter, Althea Lee King. Later records also show that he continued to provide poorly and sporadically for minor child. Winnie remarried twice and both times was widowed, the last time in 1969. She died Mar 21, 1973 in Tarrant Co Tx. Their daughter, Althea, married and gave birth to 7 children. She and her husband had 14 grandchildren. Althea died a widow on Dec 18, 1985. To date: The union of Henry Odum King and Winnie Elizabeth Hammack produced: One daughter, 5 granddaughters and 2 grandsons, 14 great grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren. 2. Henry Odum King married 2nd wife, Dreusilla Opal Long b July 13, 1910 in Denton, Denton Co Tx. They married in Marietta, Love Co, Oklahoma. She did not want her friends and family to know of Henry's previous marriage or child. Therefore, Henry rarely saw his daughter and she was never allowed at his home. Together Henry and 2nd wife,Opal had one child. Nolan Henry King b Sep 26, 1931 in Decatur, Tx. He married Bennie Jean Tapelski (?). They divorced and there were no children born of this union. He married 2nd (?) wife, Nancy Gertrude Rainbolt b Oct 30, 1930 Midland, Tx No children were born of this union. They adopted two children and have 3 grandchildren. Remember...genealogy is about facts and family and it is wrong to try to rewrite history to fit a phoney image. Family is what should matter, not perpetuating lies. If the skeletons in your closet aren't dead...they're liable to cause a stink! <g>

    3. Hi everybody, I'm new to the list, and I would like to correspond with someone who is researching the family of JOHN KING ca1828. His wife was Annie ?? ca1831. In 1880 they lived in Burnet Co Texas. These are the children I have: John Thomas King ca1862, Delilah Jane King born 1866 married Wiley Asberry Grumbles, Margaret King ca1869, Mary A. King ca1873, James Allen King ca1875, Martha King ca1879 & Melissa King married Aaron Frye. There may have been more children. In the 1880 census Delilah Jane was spelled Delia. I've also been told that this family was listed in the Dawes Roll for the Cherokee 1896? Any help would be appreciated, thanks, Robin Adams Latham mailto:latham5@telpex.com

    1. [KING-L] John King 1761-1841
    2. SHERRY MAZZETTI
    3. KING Researchers, I am looking for a John King b. November 25, 1761 in Loudoun Co VA. Served REV WAR from Bedford Co PA. Moved to Mason, then Bracken Co KY where he died in 1841. Children (from will): Richard m. Mary Daly (spell varies), William, John, Rachel m. Ralph Daly, Mary, Sabinah. He also had a possible brother (or other close relative) named Richard whose son William S. King m. Permelia Bryan in Nicholas Co KY. His son Richard also signed a marriage bond in Nicholas. If King/Osborn researchers are correct, my John King is definitely NOT the son of John and Mary (Osborn) King of Loudoun Co VA. There was a Richard King living in Loudoun, but I cannot find any info on him. Also, there are three John Kings who lived in Bracken who were REV WAR veterans. He is not the John King who married Catherine Craig. He MAY be related to the Fauquier Co Kings who lived in Bracken, but no proof exists. Have more info on him and collateral families, if anyone thinks he might be related to them. I am also looking for more info on Daly family. Richard and Mary (Daly) King are my ancestors. She was probably the dau of Charles Daly. The Kings and Bryan/Bryant families went from KY to IN and IL, especially Shelby Co IL. SHERRY

    3. I don't have identical names, but we're in close geographical locations, so perhaps we can find the connection? I have a great-grandfather John Luther King from Hartsville, SC. I have a letter he wrote on 29 July 1943 giving some information to a granddaughter about geneaology -- According to my gr-grandfather, the original immigrant incestor was Robert Merck, immigrated from Ireland, called "Devil Bob" as my gr-grandfather explains because "he loved his liqor <sic> and dogs best." Gr-grandfather didn't know wife's first name, but said last name was Holland. Either way, they had the following children: Peter John (my gr-gr-gr-grandfather) Robert "The Preacher" Joe (Mack King's father, for what that's worth) and James. My grandfather's records show something slightly different: That Robert was born in Ireland in 1756, married to Tabitha Dolley, and had THESE children: James John Peter Robert Josiah -- that must be "Joe." I'm not sure which is in correct chron order. Sorry to be sloppy, but wanted to get this to you quickly. My grandfather also notes: Robert King, son of the original Robert Kin from Ireland, married a Miss Holland, daughter of Moses Holland who was a Revolutionary soldier. They had one daughter named Martha hwo married Luke Hanks. They had one daughter Fannie who married Press Tribble. They had a daughter Essie who married John Luther King. John Luther King was my gr-grandfather. They all settled in Belton, SC -- I think a lot of them are buried in a cemetery 3 miles west of Belton. John King had 5 boys (James, William, Joe, John (my gr-gr-grandfather), and one other he didn't recall name) and 2 girls (Sena <??> and Polly) Sena married a Saylors, no children Polly married a Hanks and had "a houseful of children" (unidentified in letter) And in a sentence that I haven't been able to work out yet: "By the way I was about for get the thing Uncle Boby the Preacher had one other Daughter Martha who was your aunt Callies Grand mother, she Married Young Hanks my Mothers Uncle." Whew! Later, "John my father married a Hanks and was killed by a mule throwing him on 7 Feb 1876: he had 5 boys and 2 girls: Robert, Luther, Callie, Levi, Clarence who was killed by a horse in the Indian territory, Levi, Mary, and Werber." There's a lot of info on children in his grandfather's generation -- alas, not a lot of time to type right now, but if it sounds promising, I'll do it -- just let me know! Hope we can find a connection! -Rebecca Lynn & Bill King wrote: > > JOHN T. KING > > Searching for parents/siblings of JOHN T.
