    2. Kathy Stentzel
    3. Happy Holidays fellow researchers! I just received from the BLM in Ohio, a copy of a land grant for an Adam King in Lucas County, Ohio, the Upper Sandusky Area. It was dated 1 June 1845. I myself have been looking for an Adam King in Ohio, and the date for me at least is close, but still questionable. If this is familiar to anyone, please let me know, and perhaps I can send you a copy. Kathy stentzel@syix.com

I am afraid my KINGs are stuck in Tennessee. I haven't been able to make any headway in getting them back to NC or VA. Ah well. Patience, eh? I will forward your e-mail message to the KING e-mail list. Perhaps someone else out there knows more about your KINGs. I hope this finds you well. It's great. I wandered in looking for an Emly C. King - and yes you have one but . . . she is about 50 years older than mine. Mine was born in Estill Co., KY - but I do know that some of the family settled in IN so it isn't totally out of the question that there is a tie some place. Lots of repeated names, etc. So I will bookmark your page to come back to later. Who knows, maybe yours is one of the lines we haven't been able to trace. I do have a James born about the same time, the parents are different though. I got a good chuckle out of your home page anyway. You might have stumbled on some of the line we know we belong to, it goes?? Jacob, Major, Samuel, etc. Some from VA, and then going to KY. Same deal, moved so much it is horrible to keep up with. I have moved around alot myself, but I can't imagine what treking cross country would have been like back then. Think I'd leave eerything behind and just start over. anyway, I wont keep ya, Marie <peach@dtgnet.com> -------- REPLY, End of original message --------

    1. [KING-L] Ephraim King and Micahjah King-NC>GA>AL
    2. Ephraim King was b. 1781 in NC and first appears in the 1810 Onslow Co. NC census. Next he appears in 1820 Burke Co. GA. In 1831 Ephraim appears in Land deeds of Lowndes Co. AL and in 1840 and 1850 he is Dale/Coffee Co. AL There is some thinking that Ephraim may be the son of Michjah King of Onslow Co. AL. Michjah King may have had a son Michjah, Jr.(listed in the tax rolls of Onslow Co.) who appears in Jefferson Co. Ga in 1820 (county next to Burke Co.) and then in Butler Co. AL (next to Lowndes Co. AL). The 1830 Butler Co. Census show Michjah as born between 1770 and 1780 which would/might make him the right age to be Ephraim's brother. The census further shows that Michjah children: males- 2, 5-10; 1,10-15; 2, 15-20, females, 2'0-5; 1,10-15; 1, 40-50. Does anyone out there know who these children were? Thanks, Bobby

My husband and I were stationed in Albany, Ga. in the 1985-1989 years and went to Fort Benning for dental care. I guess I never realized that many bases may contain old gravesites. Are you researching your family and if so where do you come from? My maiden name is King and I am from the Warren, PA area. Thanks again and God bless. Cindi

    1. [KING-L] Re: WPA Cemetery Book of Lincoln-Moore Counties, TN. - KING & Allied
    2. Hi Folks: Several of you have expressed an interest in the subject matter. As I said earlier, I think I first saw the book at the Lincoln County, TN public library at least ten years ago. I also stated that it had been published by someone else. I just checked my files and found that I had extracted some records from the privately published book titled: CEMETERY RECORDS OF LINCOLN-MOORE COUNTIES TENNESSEE (Revised) by Helen C. and Timothy R. Marsh. No date for publication appears on the photo copy of the cover sheet; but shows their address as: MARSH HISTORICAL PUBLICATIONS, 912 Shelbyview Drive, Shelbyville, TN 37160. I photocopied a few copies of the above mentioned book at the Los Angeles Genealogical Library, which is operated by the LDS Church in West Los Angeles, CA. The pages cover all or parts of the Phillips Cemetery, Harkins Cemetery, King Cemetery and part of the Gilbert Cemetery; all situated in the Belleville Quadrangle of Lincoln Co. I also have one page on the Gattis Cemetery in the Petersburg Quadrangle where I found several Kings and McAdams listed. My King line intermarried with Harkins, McAdams, Barham, Freeman, Wells, Delk and others in Lincoln Co. TN. I hope this information can help those who have ancestors buried in the many family cemeteries situated in Moore and Lincoln Counties of TN. 2. Dear List, I am a member of the US Army stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia. During the Post's history, the government annexed a number of small towns and villages around the post and turned the land into training areas. While they did tear down all of the buildings in these towns, they left all the small graveyards intact. Hence, the post is dotted with little fenced off gravesites. While on a break during one of my many training exercises, I wandered into one of these graveyards purely for the historical value. To my amazement I found a number of Kings buried here. I wasn't able to get much information off the gravestones since most of them were very old and not really taken care of. Hopefully somebody will recognize the names on my list. E. S. 3. -- [ From: Kristine Ludwig * EMC.Ver #3.1a ] -- Kay, I just checked the rootsweb site, and, yes, they do archive all postings for the surname mailing lists too. You can go to: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl Enter for the Name of List: King (Press submit) Then it will pull up a Query field. For example, you can enter: illinois and marriages (Press search) Then you can see the archived postings. So, I guess you could say that, yes , I have submitted the info to USGenWeb. :) Sorry guys for so many postings. I forgot that some of you receive this list as individual e-mails rather than as a digest. I promise I won't flood you guys like that again. Best regards, Kristine

    3. -- [ From: Kristine Ludwig * EMC.Ver #3.1a ] -- Hi, Kay. Thanks for the note. I know that rootsweb used to archive e-mailed newsletters (at least for their Roots-L discussion list). They even had a way you could search for keywords, and the server/daemon would e-mail you an index of messages that contained those keywords. You could then e-mail off a request for the messages you were interested in, and the computer would e- mail you the desired messages pronto. I was under the impression that they would similarly archive the individual surname mailing lists. I take it from your message that they do not?
