I don't remember where this information came from, but I'm very = interested in the name O'Kinga: > "When immigrants first arrived in America, their non-English names were > often Anglicized. In the process, names that were the equivalent of = > "King" > in other European languages, were call-ed King in the U.S.A. they = > included > such names as Ching, Kyng, Kunge, Rex, Reyes, Regius, Mac-Conroy, = > Corona, > Karl, Kroll, Kiraly, O'Kinga, Koenig, Roi, Leroy, Rey Kyser, etc." Any help finding more about the O'Kinga descendants or their origins = would be very helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone know a web site that may have information?
I am new at asking for help so if I am not clear as to what I want I am sorry. I am looking for descendents, ancestors, and any information on the following King family. William Henry King born March 19, 1844 died August 27, 1928. Married to Angeline King and had two children. Horace and Frank. Married second wife Mary Alice Hazelbaker had the following children. Ira, Rowena, Deffie,Homer, Charles, and Herschel(Joe). Know that the family was in the lumber business and that sons inherited lunberyards. Horace ran the yard in Marion, Ohio. Horace died in 1944. There was also lumber yards in the following cities. West Unity, Logan, Peebles and Seaman. All family owned and operated. Has anyone done any research on this family??
Hi, I am looking for information on STEPAN N. KING. He was born about 1776 in Maryland. He married ?? Nelson and had one son that I know of, STEPHAN M. KING. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Lindsay Galvin
Would like to discuss the King families of Bladen County, NC with anyone researching them. This includes John King and Jane Moorehead who migrated to Camden County, Georgia at the time of the Revolution. Also, Duncan King (b. 1729) who married Lydia Fosque. Also, my ancestor George King listed below. I am highly interested in finding the origin of George King. I think Putnam County, Georgia is a possibility. All descendants of George King lived in Bladen County, NC. However, two of his grandsons, Thomas Norman King and George B. King, migrated to Centerville, Leon County, Texas in the late 1800s. 1. GEORGE1 KING was born Bef. 1790, and died Bef. 03 April, 1823. He married LENORA ASHFORD, daughter of STREET ASHFORD and ANN BRYAN. Notes for GEORGE KING: The origin of George King is unknown. The only reference to him is in the will of Street Ashford. Further information on him can be derived by studying the records of his wife, Lenora Ashford. George may have died in Georgia or in Bladen County, North Carolina. The prior is much more probable. Lenora King first appears in the deed records of Bladen County on 3 April, 1823. She is acting independantly in a deed with John McGill and his wife Elizabeth Ann Ashford, sister to Lenora. Therefore, George must have died prior to this. It is possible that Lenora moved her young family back home after George King died. We know George and Lenora were living in Georgia in the year 1816, since their son, Street Ashford King, lists his birthplace as Georgia in the 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 Bladen County census. Children of GEORGE KING and LENORA ASHFORD are: i. ANNA D.2 KING, b. Abt. 1809; d. Aft. 1870, Bladen County, NC; m. JOSEPH ALLEN, Abt. 1830. ii. ??? KING, b. Bet. 1810 - 1820. iii. GEORGE WASHINGTON KING, b. Abt. 1815; d. Aft. 1854, Bladen County, NC; m. AMY "LOVEDY" MUNCE, Abt. 1841. iv. STREET ASHFORD KING, b. 10 August, 1816, Georgia; d. 25 December, 1898, Bethel Township, Bladen County, NC; m. CELIA ALLEN, Abt. 1842. Thanks, Jason Bordeaux

My King ancestors, including a Joseph KING (but not yours) were from New Brunswick, just south of Fredericton. They descend from the Acadien ROYs. There are several Quebec ROY lines thay may have changed to King. And for that matter some English and Irish Kings as well in New Brunswick. If your Kings are french ANd from New Brunswick, it is mroe than likely they connect to my Roy/King line somewhere. My KINGs changed their name from ROY sometime in the late 1700s. If anyone has any New Brunswick KINGs, or ROYs I am building a database which is very quickly growing, so I would be happy to share what I have and add to it. -Kevin King ======================================================= Kevin King kking@tellink.net =======================================================
In response to posting by Davette Bowen Do you know where the King Cm is located? I know of one in McNairy County. (informaiton taken from the book REFLECIONS A HISTORY OF MCNAIRY COUNTY, TN 1823-1996) It was located on what is now the Rose Creek Rd. The cemetery was located near the turnoff of the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Someone built a grocery store on the King Cemetery property and destroyed all the tombstones so there is nothing to mark the spot where the Kings were laid to rest. This was where some of my kin were laid to rest, including Henry and Hannah King from NC, and they were the propenitors of most of the Kings in McNairy County, TN. I have several Nancy Kings in my line, some I don't know who they married. Sorry my information may not be much help to you, but if you could provide more information, I might be able to help. My mother was a King Betty Johnson

(witnessed by Chester Lockwood and Betsey carnegie) By 1920 they either go back to Boston, MA or Canada. Family history says they went to PA (Susquehanna County somewhere), to live by her sister Eva Ivey and her brother Chester Lockwood. This line sound familiar to anyone out there?? Michele R. Hello, I am new to this list, and would like to inquire if there are any other members who are researching KING/KOENIG in the Chester County, PA area. I have done a lot of research in that area, and would like to correspond with anyone else who is also researching this area. -- Thanks, Mary Taffet mdtaffet@syr.edu
I have a death certificate for J. W. King who died in the town of Terrell, county of Kaufman Oct 14, 1915. He was hospitalized for 5 months in the the North Texas Hospital for the Insane after having been struck by a railway train. He had apparently been hospitalized for 5 months prior to his death. The certificate states that the place of burial is Nacogdoches, Texas. Mr. King was 64 years old and a married farmer from Georgia. No information was given by family members. Dr. Charles W. Oastner signed the document. If anyone can use this, I will copy. Unfortunately it does not appear to be my J. W. King. Rita Tanner in Oregon
