I'm starting on this branch of my family tree. I'm looking for some information on William KING. He married a woman named Mary. (I'm sure he did this just to make it "easy" on all his descendants!) The only information I have on William is that he died on 4 March 1821. Mary died on 30 Sept 1822. They had a son named Josiah M. KING (b. 29 Nov 1798, d. 10 May 1837). Josiah married Eliza Ann BEEBE (b. 27 Jun 1809, d. 8 Jan 1837) in 1828. Their daughter, Nancy Amanda KING (b. 1830) married Lewis Davis HOMAN (b. 1826 in Smithtown, Suffolk, New York). This is the first indication of location that I have. I have no more information about William or Mary or locations for any of the others mentioned here. If anyone knows about this family, I'd appreciate hearing from them. I'd also appreciate any hints on where to start looking for these folks. Thank you. Dixie
I apologize to those of you who will see this more than once, but I am cross-posting to save time and effort. We have just finished adding some new info and photos to my Maternal Ahnentafel page at my website, and would invite y'all to stop by and take a look. In the photos area, there is also a new area with unidentified photos that I sure would appreciate some help with. Looking forward to hearing from some of you. Have a great day. Hello Earl, I saw your message about Aaron King but was in Salt Lake City doing research and didn't have time to reply. Home now and wanted to give you my Aaron's info. My earliest known King ancestor is Adam S. King (born abt 1796 and died Setp 9, 1839) who married Susan Wight. He probably died in Ross Co. Ohio or Crawford County, Illinois. Believe Aaron migrated from Monongalia, VA which is now West Virginia. Adam S and Susan Wight King had the following children: James M. King born 12/19/1827, Ohio Aaron M. King born abt 1832 Oliver King born abt 1834 Alfred A. King born abt 1836 John G. King born abt 1822 Nancy Ann King born March 23, 1830 I am just starting my search on the Kings and perhaps we are of the same line but this is about all I have on them at the moment. I did find some info on various Kings in Monongalia VA while in SLC but am still trying to sort it out. This was found under information about the Methodist Conference of 1815 in Mississippi. The Conference had lost half of its force since the previous session at Rev. John Fords. Richmond Nolley died. Jonathan Kemp, Roswell Valentine and Gabriel Pickering had been discontinued. Thomas A. King and Elisha Lott went to Tennessee and took work there after their ordination. John S. Ford and Thomas A. King never returned to the Mississippi Conference, but Thomas Griffin and Elisha Lott returned at the end of one year. Hope this is helpful
This information about Thomas King was found in the book Early Methodism in Mississippi . The link is http://www.rootsweb.com/~msswterr/bren.htm It mentions Thomas King in several places The Mississippi Conference assembled at Rev. John Ford's house in Marion County, west of Pearl River on Nov. 14,1814. Samuel Sellers was President and William Winans was re-elected as Secretary. Also present were Richmond Nolley, Thomas Griffin, Thomas A. King, John I.E. Byrd, John Schrock, and Elisha Lott. The appointments were: Mississippi District- Samuel Sellers, P.E. Natchez and Claiborne- Thomas A. King, Gabriel Pickering Wilkinson- Wm. Winans, Peter James, Roswell Valentine Amite- J.I.E. Byrd, Jonathon Kemp Tombigbee- John S. Ford, Thomas Owens Pearl River- Elijah Gentry Rapides- Elisha Lott Attakapas- Richmond Nolley Washita- Thomas Griffin The names of several ministers that were on the rolls the last year had disappeared. Lewis Hobbs died, John Phipps had returned to Tennessee, John Shrock had located, Josiah B. Daughtry and Simon Gentry had been discontinued after one year, for what reason the author knows not. Daughtry's name appears in the Tennessee Conference the next year and he did many more years of service. Gentry was reputed to be somewhat demented. Two transfers were received, that of Thomas A. King and Gabriel Pickering. King had been in the itinerancy four years and came with deacon's orders, to last only one year. He then returned to Tennessee for a year before locating. You might want to check out his link because I think I read in it somewhere else that Thomas King moved to TN. and never returned. Marie

As far as I know, Mary Ann Burson King is buried in Poplar Springs Primitive Baptist Church cemetery near Bowdon, GA in Carroll County. Concerning the burial place of Benjamin, I copied the following from the Benjamin King Group on Yahoo. From a book in the Gadsden Public Library, Gadsden, AL, titled, Magnolia Cemetery, it lists on page 540 the soldiers buried in Confederate Rest. B. King is listed buried Row 14, No. 62, Cemetery List #789. Also, on page 524 lists #62 King, B., Confederate Soldier, buried August 10, 1863. There are two dates given for his date of death in Mobile, AL, September 13, 1863 and August 9, 1863. I believe that August 9, 1963, is correct as it appears on one of the register forms which lists Benj. King, Co. K, 41 GA, when deceased August 9, 1863, where Mobile, AL, # of cert is 103. I cannot read the name of the person that signed it. On another of the forms it has "Account of clothing and effects of Benjamin King who died at the General Hospital Mobile ALa August 9th A.D. 1863. It has date August 9th 1863, name Benjamin King, rank Pvt, Regt 41 GA and company looks like a H, on the remarks it states The Effects of Benj King was delivered to his son who was here at the time of his death". On another form which is very hard to read gives his age as fifty four years, five feet 10 inches high, fair complexion, gray eyes, gray hair and by profession a farmer. I would think that the B. King buried in Confederate Rest, Magnolia Cemetery, Mobile, AL on August 10, 1863, would certainly be our ancestor. I would like to find his parents and go back to when the Kings came to America. If anyone has any other information on them, I hope they will share it. Julia Young Gadsden, Alabama As far as Benjamin's parents, I am no help, as, I too am searching for them myself. They are one of my biggest brick walls. As many descendants of Benjamin as there are, perhaps one day we will break past it.
