    3. There is a Harrietta (Biddlestone) King in my family line. She married my Great-Grandfather, William King, after coming to the US in the 1860s from the UK. They settled in Pennsylvania for a while and had three children: William, III; Joseph; and I believe a daughter named Cathryn. William, II was listed as an Iron Puddler in the 1880 census. Janet M.

    2. In 1856 (or Oct 5, 1858), Mollie (or Mary Jane) KING (birth, death dates unknown) married Joseph EAST (born in Garrard County, KY between 1827-1831). They had 6 children - Frank, Effie, John Wesley, Emiline "Rina" (b August 31,1859), Nancy and Dusky. I don't know Mollie's parents. Rina EAST subsequently married William M. SHERROW and gave birth to my grandmother. If anyone can help me find the ancestry of Mollie (Mary Jane?) KING, I would love to hear from you. Thank you very much. 1. [KING] Roll call
    2. Hi all. I will try again to find the King folks. Augustus King Born Germany Came to America around 1850. He and his wife Margaret Sonne and their t2 sons and Henry, Margaret's brother appear on the Ohio Co., KY Census. With them is also a mention of Louisa who at the time was 8 months old. None of the family seems to know what happened to her. Did she go to Ill with her mother and her mothers 2nd husband? Also looking for information about Henry King, a son of Augustus. Born in 1842 in Germany. There are so many Henry's running around I am getting them mixed up. Also, if anyone has any info about Henry Kings family, I would be most grateful. It's been a log search resulting in nothing. Patience, Patience. Patience girl! I have information about the 2nd son of Augustus and Margaret. TIA Ann

    1. Re: [KING] Tioga Co Pa by way of RI
    2. Hi Wendy I have Benedict King in the 1860 U.S. Federal Census in Lawrence Township, Tioga County, PA. He states he is 50 years old which would date his birth about 1810. He sates he was born in Rhode Island. Also listed in his household are: Caroline - female - age 52 - born NY Truman - male - age 21 - born NY Martin - male - age 18 - born NY Hiram - male - age 16 - born NY Diana - female - age 15 - born NY This same family also appears in the US Federal Census of 1850, also in Tioga County. The only major difference is that Benedict states in this census that he was born in NY, not Rhode Island. If you visit Tri-Counties Geneology Sites by Joyce M Tice, you will find the census transcriptions there. In the 1850 census, the family is located in Farmington Township and the spelling of Benedict is transcribed as "Berndert" in one transcription, and "Burndert" in the other. Also, the spelling of Martin is transcribed as "Freeman" in both transcriptions. In the 1860 census in Lawrence Township, the transcriptions have the spellings as Benedict and Truman. This Benedict would be different from the Benedict you mention in your e-mail as being born abt 1851 in PA.

    3. Here is my problem, known facts not adding up. My King line settle in Greene CO, IL 1821. Alexander King was born 21 Nov 1787 in Mecklenburg CO, NC. He married Nancy Gordon 29 May 1810 in Tennessee. He died 12 July 1872 Greene County, IL and Nancy 20 Nov 1874 Greene County. Children of ALEXANDER KING and NANCY GORDON are: i. SAMUEL P.4 KING, b. 12 November 1812, Tennessee; d. Bef. August 1868, Greene County, Illinois. ii. JOHN KING, b. 17 January 1814, Sheelby County, Tennessee; d. 16 February 1873, Kane Township, Greene County, Illinois. iii. JAMES GORDON KING, b. 1816, Crawford County, Indiana; d. Bef. 1860, Greene County, Illinois. iv. ALEXANDER KING, b. 18 January 1820, <Crawford County> Indiana; d. 25 May 1896, Roodhouse, Greene CO, Illionois. v. CATHARINE J. KING, b. 10 May 1822, Greene County, Illinois. vi. ESTER ANN KING, b. 10 May 1822, Greene County, Illinois; d. 15 July 1902, Collin County, Texas. vii. THOMAS GARNER KING, b. 28 October 1825, Linder Township, Greene County, Illinois; d. 07 February 1881, Linder Township, Greene County, Illinois. viii. WILLIAM RICHMOND KING, b. 28 October 1825, Linder Township, Greene County, Illinois; d. 28 June 1914, Linder Township, Greene County, Illinois. From here to present pretty good source and ducumentation. Alexander's (1787-1872) father per SAR, is Alexander King born 07Dec 1754 arrived in the Colonies 1770 married Nancy Jackson <1782> enlisted 10 Jan 1776 Chester CO, PA discharged 1781. Their first two known children were born in PA, the others in Mecklenburg CO, NC. Alexander 1754-1826 applied for and recieved his pension in Huntingdon PA were he died 1826. IF the SAR is right he had a twin brother Hugh King who enlisted in Mecklenburg CO, NC. Hugh's desendants show in family records " Alexander died shortly after the Rev War and never married" The SAR records have no sources or docmentation just memberships were approved about 1920. I can not find any proof one way or the other. Just coindences like a high rate of twins in both Hugh's line and Alexander's line. Both lines seemed to be fairly educated (lawyers and doctors) Hugh was in Giles & Maury CO TN early 1800 to 1845 and Alexander's sister was married in Giles County, TN. Both Alexander 1754-1826 and Hugh 1754-1849, imigrated 1770. Questions family imigrated part went to Chester CO, PA and part to Mecklenburg CO, NC. Alexander 1754-1826 moved to Mecklenburg CO, NC and back to PA. Kent

    3. Bruce--I believe there are 2 or 3 King families in Tioga County that do not have any known connection. The Benedict King I find in Tioga Co is too young to be Truman & Martins father, if in fact, your Martin is Martion VanBuren King, married to Vesta Clara Bailey b. 6 Oct 1846; prts of Katherine Edna King b.2 Apr 1877. James P King & wife Mary Boom are parents of Benedict King born abt 1851 in Pa. My King line with James King & his wife Rhobe Howland were in Tioga Co in 1840, the Westfield/Jemison area. James is a Rev. War soldier from RI.
