I've "rescued" an old photograph of Katie E. KING which was taken at the Echard Studio in Columbus, Mississippi. In addition to her name, someone has written, "born in Columbus, Miss. Saturday Eve 18 of July 1885". Katie appears to be about 5 months old at the time the photo was taken. I'm hoping to locate someone from this family, so that this beautiful old photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

The only King of which I am aware is my wife's aunt, Ruth Allison King 1911/2000. She served in the Army of the United States from 2/1/1944 to March 16, 1946 as a Physical Therapist. Later, she worked with cerebral palsy children and then to the Iowa Soldiers Home to work with injured veterans. Even in death, she contributed by donating her remains to medical science. She rests in the Dysart Cemetery at Dysart, Iowa. It is a noble thing to honor those who secured and defended our Liberty. May they rest in peace. Bill Houdek bhoudek@swbell.net
Amen. Also remember those who were injured. My paternal uncle, Harold Henry BOWEN, sustained a severe head injury in WWII and went on to be able to work and support his family despite dire predictions that he would hardly function again...my dad served in the Army in WWII as well, here in the U.S. testing vehicles in NJ. My maternal uncle, John Samuel DRURY (who shares KING ancestry), served in the Navy in WWII on a battleship and was glad to be home when it was over. They are all now in heaven~ I do not know enough of my KING ancestry yet to know if an ancestor in that line served in the RW. I have that Mary KING, b. ?, d. ?, m. Edward BOOTH. I list one daughter, Sarah BOOTH, b. 01 Jul 1819 in Washington, D.C., d. 24 May 1855 in Washington, D.C., m. Good Morning, I wish to remember my father, Charles Robert King (1898-1954), who served in the US Navy during the 1st world war. His service was from April 22,1917 to November 18, 1924. He was a seaman or fireman aboard 6 separate Liberty Ships and was aboard one ship, fully loaded with benzene, that was sunk near the coast of Italy. He was rescued by Italian civilians who cared for him until a rescue ship from America arrived. He is at rest at the Veterans Memorial cemetery, Grand Junction, CO. Thank you Ralph King
My Great grandfather, James H King, and His brother, Abraham King served with the 51st Pa Regiment during the civil war, James fought and was wounded at the Battle of Cold Harbor, and Abraham fought and was captured at the battle of the Widerness. James had a Son, Clarence King who served in World War one, Clarence had a son Sheridan King who served in World War Two, (both in the US Army) May God Bless all our Veterans, of every generation, who gave us America!
Lets not forget the Kings who have slipped by us and have no family to remember them. "Salute".

Edwin T. King (1922 - 1973) - served in WWII in France and Italy as a mechanic from 1941 until 1945. This is my father. Charles Edwin King (1943 - 2004) - served in the Air Force in the early 60's. I know little about his service except that he had a hush-hush job, but had to be transferred when it was discovered that he talked in his sleep. %^) He told me this. This is my half-brother. We share a father. Tina (King) Hall

My "King" veteran is also my brick wall in this family. Charles King served as a Private in Company E, 133 Illinois US Infantry from May to Sept 1864. Charles was born about 1846 in London, Eng. to William and Catherine (Albin) King. He is listed in both the 1860 and 1870 censuses in Springfield IL. After 1870, I have no information about him. Jerry Hobart, Albuquerque, NM
This King, whose relatives, save for his father's family, fought for the Union Army and lost an arm in the battle of Antietam. Were it not for the kindness and compassion of a local minister, Rev. Rupley, he would have died. Recovered, he returned to the Brooklyn NY area and gave his eldest daughter the middle name of Rupley. Sue Hawes
