As that contract and the owed $50 was an asset, it was bequeathed as an asset to George's "beloved wife, Polly." No other individuals are mentioned within the body of the will and although Archibald Kincaid of Pike Co. is mentioned twice, no relationship is indicated. In reviewing my own notes about this George, I see that I placed this George as a probable son of Archibald Kincaid and Janette Townsley, not Andrew Kincaid/Martha Townsley even though they settled in Greene County, IL near the Andrew/Martha family. If George did have a son named Archibald, this would lend credence to assigning George to Archibald/Janette. Note that earlier Andrew/Archibald children listings included a George Kincaid who married Johannah Morris Baldwin. This George was not a child of Andrew or Archibald. There are some stray Kincaids that show up in mid-1800 censuses in Carrollton, IL/Greene County that may or may not fit into the George/Polly family group. Here is a rundown on George/Johannah Baldwin Kincaid as sent to me by Linda Purdue who believes their sons were Samuel B, William C, Willis F, John, and James. George b 1770-1775 and Johannah Baldwin married Nov 23, 1802 in Montgomery Co. KY. George Campbell Kincaid is the proven son of Thomas/Hannah Tincher Kincaid. The proof comes from a Greenbrier Co. VA court case where the heirs of Samuel Baldwin are suing Thomas Kincaid. Samuel Baldwin heirs, as listed in the case, include "George Kincaid & Johannah his wife late Johannah Baldwin". In a listing of Thomas's heirs (Hannah isn't named so may have died) in the suit Baldwin vs Kincaid , George Kincaid's name is followed by the note "(one of the plaintiffs)". In Greenbrier Chancery Court Case 141, Andrew Kincaid plaintiff vs Thomas, Francis & George Kincaid & John Bowyer Defts. Complaint dated 26 1817. In 1811 Thomas Sr sold 155a plus 35a to Andrew for $1000 saying he had previously sold all 190a to Francis [15 Aug 1810 deed Thomas Kincaid & wife Hannah to Francis Kincaid, 100a. 27 Aug 1811 deed from Francis and wife Nancy to Andrew 190a. 1818 Andrew and wife Rebecca to John Pearsy 120a more or less. The descrepancy of acreage is part of the court case]. On 24 Feb 1819 the heirs of Thomas decd along with his widow Hannah are summoned to give testemony as to why the case against Thomas dcd should not be revived against his heirs (same heirs listed as in Baldwin vs Kincaid. Hannah is not listed in that case so may have died). George, Francis & Thomas are not served as they are "no inhabitants of this state" In 1828 a report was given on the deposition of land contested in Chancery Court Case 145, Baldwin vs Kincaid, "Thomas Kincaid Sr conveyed 290a. to his son George Campbell Kincaid by deed bearing date 31st of Oct 1797...George Kincaid conveyed said 290a to Jacob Bunger by deed bearing date the 19th Oct 1809". After their marriage in 1802 George brought Johannah to his home in Greenbrier Co. VA where he is identifiable on the tax roles from 1795 through 1809. From Greenbrier deeds: In 1809 George Campbell Kincaid and wife Johannah sell to Jacob Bunger Muddy/Mill Creek land bought from Thomas & wife Hannah in 1797. George is associated with other names on the "heirs" list. In 1809 George & Johannah also sold land (granted to him in 1807) to William Kincaid. William & wife Mary Ann sold this land in 1811 (William m Mary Tincher 1802). William is noted in the heirs list refered to above as "(Greenbrier County)". The previous year George/Johannah sold land on Muddy Creek to Archible Campbell. George and Archibald Campbell both gave testemony for the 1798 marriage of Thomas Terry and Sarah Kincaid. John and Elizabeth Kincaid both signed the permission slip for Sarah to marry. On the heirs list John is followed by the note (lives in Nicholas). [VA not KY. Heirs Francis and Thomas are noted as "Indiana--Madison Township" so state would have been given if other than VA]. After selling their Grbr land George and Hannah moved to KY. In 1810 George (26-45) is in the Montgomery Co. KY census 1/0/0/1/0- 2/0/1/00. In 1820 George (45+) is in Bloomfied, Bath Co. KY 2/1/0/0/0/1- 1/2/0/1/0/0 as is a William (16-26) 1/0/1/0/0- 1/0/1/00). [Who is this William? In 1830 he is age 30-40 (b c1790-1800) 3/2/0/0/0/1- 0/2/0/0/0/1 and is still in Bath Co.?] In 1830 George (50-60) is in Nicholas Co. KY 0/0/0/2/0/0/0/1/0- 0/0/1/0/1/0/1/0/0. [If the 2 younger males are John & James b c1814 in the 1850 census below, where are Samuel B b c1809, William C b c1810-20, and Willis F b c1811?] Kincaids in the 1840 Nicholas Co. KY census are: Samuel B (30-40) 0/1/0/0/0/1- 1/1/0/0/1 William C ( 20-30) 0/0/0/0/1- 0/0/0/1 Willis F (20-30) 0/0/0/0/1- 0/0/0/0/1/1. In the 1850 Nicholas Co. KY census: Samuel B age 41 born VA.
