    3. David, Your Owsley/Lee Co. KY suggested to me that you may be from the James/Margaret Wyatt line. This line does appear to go back to Greenbrier Co., VA where Margaret's father Edward Wyatt held land on Turkey Creek when he died. Her sister Martha m Thomas Kincaid who moved from Greenbrier to Campbell Co. TN. It has long been thought that James and Thomas were brothers. We know the DNA of Thomas. His descendent is 35199 in the Kincaid DNA project. He is in Group A set 1c on the chart of results which you can get to by clicking the link near the bottom of the page. There are conflicting views as to the parentage of Thomas which have been discussed many times on list. A review of past posts in the list Archives will bring you up to speed on research and hypothesis in the Greenbrier area. This area is complicated with at least 2 unrelated Kincaid families living next to and interacting with each other. The Samuel referred to below also has a descendent in the DNA project. He is 49351 in Group C-2 on the chart. He is not even closely related to Thomas above. It is only through DNA that we have been able to sort out some of the Greenbrier/Augusta families. This tool was not available to H.C. Kincaid, who descended from Samuel. It was natural to assume all Kincaids in the area were related. With limited access to records, which involved actually spending a great deal of time going to courthouses to sort through a jumble of books and papers, he made some unwarranted assumptions that have since been shown to be erroneous. Please consider joining the DNA project. If indeed, you are a descendent of James/Margaret your DNA will tell us if James could have been a brother to Thomas or if another of the several related or unrelated Kincaid families in the area may be a better fit. If you are not a descendent of James/Margaret, your DNA will help direct your research toward possible family connections.
