Is anyone going to the big event in Edinburgh next year? I noticed on the web site that the Kincaid clan is entered in the parade and other events. I never heard what happened to the Kincaid group tour that was supposed to go to Scotland this year. Anyone have a report? More importantly, is there any effort by our Kincaid rootweb group to organize a group tour to the clan gathering in 2009. Here's the brief description from the web site: On the 25th and 26th July 2009 Edinburgh will witness one of the largest clan gatherings in history. Holyrood Park will host a magnificent Highland Games <http://www.clangathering.org/events/view/108> over the two days, then on the Saturday evening Clan members will parade up the historic Royal Mile<http://www.clangathering.org/events/view/106>and take their seats on the castle esplanade for a spectacular Clan Pageant <http://www.clangathering.org/events/view/110> . Here's the web site for the event: http://www.clangathering.org/ Sincerely, Don (Larry) Kincaid, Group C-2 > To see the Kincaid of all spellings DNA chart in Excel: > > http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~adgedge/Research/April%202004/Kincaid%20%20DNA.xls > >
Joan Kincaid, President of Clan Kincaid told me last week that Clan Kincaid and Clan Chief Arabella are nearing completion in planning of a tour for Americans (Canada & U.S.) in connection with The Gathering of the Clans and will be announcing it soon and are hoping to have at least 100 Kincaid's from around the world there to march in the Kincaid section up the Royal Mile. I believe the tour will include several historic Kincaid places like Kincaid House Hotel and Lennox Castle. We plan to go as do several of my Kin. We will make it part of a longer stay and visit Ireland and N. Ireland as well as Northern Europe. One outstanding young man, Jordan Kincaid, who is a pre-med Sophomore at the Univ. Of Texas and his father, a PA at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston will be going. Jordan has a great interest in things Kincaid, even to the point of planning on having the Kincaid Crest tattooed on his shoulder. This old Scot may even turn loose of a few dollars and get a Kincaid kilt with all the trimmings to use. Don W.
