Barbara, I don't know who Polly Heaton's parents were, but I'd guess they were from PA. I think George is the son of Archibald and Janet. I don't know which Kincaid married a Heaton in MO. Maybe something here can help. 10-21-1788 Bourbon Co, KY - William Caldwell and Andrew Kincaid witnessed the sale of 200 acres on Flat Run by Manoah Singleton to Thomas Fletcher in the pre-emption of Jacob Johnson to Manoah Singleton. I don't think this is Andrew of Archibald/Andrew as he is on the 1790 Cumberland Co, PA census. Andrew, son of Archibald, married Ann Patterson Caldwell 8-13-1807. It appears two Andrew Kincaids had a relationship with William Caldwell or two different William Caldwells. 1793 Bourbon Co, KY Tax List John, David, Andrew Kincaid, John Townsley John Townsley, brother of Janet and Martha, was living in Cynthiana, KY in 1793. Brother Thomas Townsley joined him later, and brother George Townsley joined them when they moved to Ohio abt 1801. They are all living in Greene Co, OH, Xenia Twp in 1820. There is a John Heaton also living in Xenia Twp. 1795 Bourbon Co, KY Tax List: Andrew, Archibald, David, James, William and Andrew Kincaid I vaguely recall reading somewhere that William was the father of Andrew and that Andrew's wife was Ann Pogue? 1796 Bourbon Co, KY Tax List: Andrew, Archibald, David, Capt Andrew, Andrew Sr, Joseph Kincaid 1797 Bourbon Co, KY Tax List: David, Capt Andrew, Joseph Kincaid David d1795 in Bourbon - did anyone ever find a marriage for his daughter Mary? Is Capt Andrew the one who moved to MO? If so, maybe the unknown Mary Kincaid m John Caldwell 3-13-1803 is his daughter. Joseph d1797 in Bourbon and William Martin and Walter Caldwell were witnesses to his will. He married Jane Martin 6-25-1795 Harrison. 1797 Montgomery Co, KY Tax List: David, Jonathan Kincaid 1800 Montgomery Co, KY Tax List: Andrew, Archibald, David, John and Thomas Kincaid David:1810 Montgomery Co, KY census 358-17 - 0 0 1 1 1 * 0 2 1 0 0 - Was one of his daughters named Mary? I think John (not Archibald's son) moved to Decatur Co, IN about 1831: 1810 Montgomery: 379-42 - 1 2 0 1 0 * 3 0 0 1 0 I think Thomas is the unknown Thomas: 1810 Montgomery: 361-23 - 1 1 0 1 0 * 0 1 1 0 0 or 374-22 - 1 1 0 1 0 * 1 0 0 1 0 (one m Mary Kincaid 3-3-1800) Archibald: 1810 Montgomery Co, KY censes: 354-22 - 0 2 0 0 1 * 0 1 0 1 0 If this census is correct, Archibald's wife would have been born after 1765. The 1790 household has four males born before 1774 including Archibald and Andrew. Possibilities - the census is not correct, Archibald had a wife before Janet, Janet died and he married again. I think the 2 males 10-16 in the household are sons George born 1780-90 and William born about 1793-94. The daughter 10-16 is said to be Martha b1794-1800. Martha is said to have married Richard Stone. Richard Stone is in the 1810 Montgomery Co census page 354-13: 3 1 0 1 0 * 2 0 0 1 0. If this is the correct Richard and Martha, both would have been born 1770-1790 and married about 1795 in PA or KY. That would make Martha one of the unknown older daughters of Archibald and Janet. They are not found in 1820, so the ages cannot be checked. I think the female 10-16 in Archibald's household may be ward Polly Heaton rather than daughter Martha. George and Polly are in the 1840 Greene Co census page 70-6. He is age 50-60, she is age 40-50. They are not in the 1850 census. Archibald's son William married Polly Small and Barbara Neal. William paid tax on land in Bath County through 1835. I have not found them in 1840 or 1850. Nor have I seen the actual land records in Greene Co,IL, but it looks like William may have bought land but the deed was given to Barbara. In 1860 Greene Co, IL, page 929-2078, Barbara is listed with son Archibald. Family 2079 is headed by John Heaton 37, bPA (1812). Who were her parents? I don't find a Heaton family in the 1810 and 1820 censuses for Montgomery and Bath counties of KY. If Archibald Kincaid was her guardian, then the George Kincaid who married Polly was the son of Andrew/Martha or son of Archibald/Janette? George Kincaid was in the 1830 Greene County, IL census. He was next to James Kincaid and William T. Kincaid---all of the Kincaids a. 40-50. Just above them in the 1830 Greene Co, IL census were Andrew Hamilton a. 50-60 (married Elizabeth Kincaid--the census shows 1 F a. 50-60) and Thomas H Hamilton a. 20-30, 1 M under 5 and 1 F a. 20-30. George Kincaid, 1830 Greene Co, IL census: Males: 2 under 5; 2 a. 5-10; 1 a. 10-15; 1 a. 40-50 Females: 1 a. 5-10; 1 a. 10-15; 1 a. 15-20; 1 a. 30-40. The 1830 Greene County, IL census shows a Heaton family----Orange B. Heaton, born in Thetford, Orange County, Vermont. Was he a relative of Polly Heaton? Information about Dr. Orange B. Heaton: Orange Barber Heaton, father-in-law of John Ebsworth Owsley, was born 28 Oct 1802. in Thetford, Orange, VT and died in 1876. He was the son of Orange Heaton I (1761-1843) and his second wife Jessimina Smith. Orange Heaton I served as a private during the Revolutionary War in Olcott’s Vermont Militia. The family is lisited on the 1810 census as residing in Thetford Vermont. In 1827 he received his medical degree from the University of Vermont. He married (1) Emily Bledsoe on 28 July 1829, daughter of Moses Owsley Bledsoe and Sophia Childress Taylor. Emily Bledsoe, the daughter of Moses Bledsoe and Sophia Childress Taylor, was born 31 March, 1811. Emily married Dr. Orange B. Heaton 28 July 1829 in St. Louis Missouri. Soon after their marriage they moved to Illinois where Orange became a "very significant land owner". Approximately 100 separate Illinois Public Land Purchase Records are available on Ancestry.com. for Orange Heaton. Orange B. Heaton’s name also appears in the legal papers of Abraham Lincoln Their family is listed on the 1830, Greene, Illinois Census and on the 1840 census for Carrollton, Illinois. Not much is known about their marriage or their life after. More records here: http://owsleytidepool.org/AncestralReflectionsMilancie/HeatonOrangeB.htm This connection to the Owsley family may be important, because there was a Kincaid marriage to an Owsley in Lincoln Co, KY in the mid-1800's. Who is this John Kincaid, witness to the will of Samuel Owsley? >From the will of Samuel Owsley, 1851, Lincoln Co, KY I do hereby constitute & appoint Samuel O. Middleton & my wife Eliza Owsley Executor & executrix of this my last will & testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 24th day of July 1851.
