All: Thank you all for your interest in my Kincaid ancestors. I'll attempt to answer several questions raised in Kincaid Digest Issue 484. I am in possession of the original wills signed and wax-sealed by Andrew Kincaid and John Kincaid dating to the early 1800s leaving their Hartford, NY properties to their youngest brother James Kincaid. James Kincaid was my grandfather's great, great grandfather. I have a number of other personal papers including deeds for Hartford properties purchased by John Kincaid from Maria Clinton (wife of DeWitt Clinton, former governor of New York and presidential candidate) in the 1790s. Our Kincaid line's surname is dwindling as my grandfather had three daughters and his only brother had one son. I have my second cousin's address and will be writing him in January in hopes of stimulating some interest in the family's history and will also invite him to participate in the DNA project. I'm not holding my breath expecting euphoria on the notion as I have not seen him in over 50 years. However, there's always a glimmer of hope that interest may be sparked. My immediate next steps in order are to: 1. research 38 ancestry.com "hints" to validate some of my Kincaid tree data on the Wheeler side dating from the early 1400s back to 742; 2. add all the Kincaid sibling and spousal information extracted from my grandfather's records; 3. attempt to upload the resulting file to the Worldconnect site; and 4. contact my second cousin with an earnest attempt to stimulate interest in the Kincaid family history. Due to interest shown in the Hartford, NY Kincaid family, I will certainly pass along any good news as well as significant progress in my documentation plans. Thank you again for your interest and the encouragement it has fostered. Respectfully, Ed Loomis Baltimore, MD eloomis@cavtel.net
