    1. [KINCAID] New Kincaid Line Added

    3. Greetings Kincaid descendants and best wishes for 2009. I recently joined the Kincaid List and this week have added my Kincaid ancestors to the trees maintained at ancestry.com. My "home person" is Harold Burtis Kincaid (1893 -1954). His Kincaid line immigrant was James Kincaid (1765 - 1848) who first settled in Camden Valley, Washington County, NY and later moved to Hartford, Washington County, NY in the late 1700s. James was the son of John Kincaid (b. 1730 Londonderry, Northern Ireland), son of David Kincaid (b. 1695, Londonderry). Unfortunately, family records on John and David are scant and those on earlier Kincaids are nonexistent. So hopefully, something in the Harold Kincaid tree might attract attention and aid in mutual and complimentary sleuthing. A side interest is the marriage of John Hamilton Kincaid to Abigail Wheeler as the Wheeler family tree is documented back to Charlemagne. Hopefully this marriage into an English line won't upset too many Scottish loyalists. I have validated many of the ancestry.com hints supplied during my record entry but still have 38 persons on the Wheeler side to examine further. I hope to wrap that up in the coming week. Cheers, Ed Loomis Baltimore, MD eloomis@cavtel.net

    3. Am I correct in that these trees are not publically available (ie. they are only available to ancestry.com subscribers)? 3. Peter, is this a possible connection to your line? James (1765-1848) would be a generation older then your David (1798-1886) from Londonderry. If I am reading correctly your David had a son James and his suspected brother George (1805-1874) also had a son James. Ed, do you have contact with any Kincaid male cousins from your line who might be willing to provide a sample for the Kincaid DNA project for you? The DNA pattern for David and possible brothers is distinctive among those tested and results from your line would be valuable in determining if there was evidence of more than 1 Kincaid family group in Londonderry during the 1700's. What do you know about the family of James b 1765? Can you document your line back to David b 1695? 3. On reading closer, I note that you have your James migrating to the US prior to the birth of Peter's David so any connection would be back at least one generation prior to James. It would still be very interesting to have a DNA reading for your line.
