Debbie, I'm really not sure about joining something like this, I would not like anyone to intercept any of my family information unless I choose for them to do so, and from the way it looks you would have to be {pass word protected} to keep this from happening. There are a lot of kooks out there just looking to pick up on information and start harassing others. We don't have that here, we have a "great group" here and we all seem to get along great.Yes there are a few of us who do have some temper tantrums some times, but like children we ignore them until they calm down (SMILE) but that is the way it is with such a large family and group as we are. Although I do have several web pages with family information and pictures, there is nothing there to connect anyone with any of my personal info. No birthdates and so forth, someone with knowledge of a computer system or a computer geek can get just about anything they want when they want it,so anyway for some reason or another I think I will stay right here at Rootsweb, for some unknown reason I feel protected here. But we will see how things go with you and Facebook and see what happens, do let me know, okay? Hi Connie, I'm interested in facebook, only so far that it allows me to 'meet' some of the Kincaids. I am overwhelmed in trying to connect through letters. Many of you seem to have met through different Kincaid events that have occurred over the years. Or you are heavily versed in your genealogy. I am only moderately versed in my genealogy and my particular line of the Kincaid family tree has suffered great losses to the point that my sister, brother and I are the only surviving descendents of our generation going back to our Great-great grandfather. It makes connecting in seem even that much more remote. I am an experiential learner, so I do better if I can 'meet' people. Even this little bit of facebook exposure for me has allowed me to 'meet' Don and Ruth in much more personal fashion than I would have ever managed in 5 years of reading correspondence in a group setting. I'm looking forward to meeting Dick, Mary Louise, Karen and Meredith as well. I am endeavoring to take very serio! usly my responsibility to protect the group from anyone that would not belong. I just tested how vulnerable the facebook group will leave you. I tested you, Dick. :) I can see your profile picture, and if I click on you I am given the option to invite you as a friend, send you a message, or view your friends. I can do that to any stranger on facebook. I could not see your birthdate, personal info or pictures, or even if you have those listed on your facebook. I have posted 5 pictures on the group site. I did not post them lightly, because anyone on the group can copy them. Maybe I'm too trusting, but I want to meet you guys. Besides, there is nothing in my posts that can't be found in a newspaper search.
